Hello everyone,
I'm in need of some help. A couple of months ago I lost the center diamond out of my engagement ring. It is a 1.01 Modified Brilliant Cushion H/SI1 completely eye clean (EGL US Graded). I took my ring back to the jewelry store in which my fiance purchased the ring as they have a policy to replace any diamonds that fall out. After 7 weeks of them having my ring to source the diamond and replace it, I get the ring back and the replacement diamond is horrible. I am thankful that they replace them for free, however, it looks nothing like my old diamond :( There is a large black spot right in the top center of the diamond that is very visible to the naked eye, and there are 3 large black spots as you look at the diamond from the side. I was so disappointed as they told me they replace it with the same graded stone as the original. I noticed this stone was graded by EGL Europe, which I know is not the best, and it was also not marked as a "modified brilliant cushion", it simply said Cushion as the shape. I told them how unhappy I was with the stone, so they offered to have a couple of loose stones sent to the store that I can look at and choose from. I don't have any specifics on the new stones as I will be going there tonight. Here are all the specs of the old stones:

I realize EGL is not the ideal grader to have of diamonds, but given that it is a replacement I don't really have much choice until it comes time to upgrade. I'm just looking for some guidance on these diamonds and also maybe what are some guidelines to look for when picking out a Cushion Cut. I'm still in the learning process! Thank you to anyone who can help!
