Cushion cut for ~6k

Hello, I'm looking for a nice cushion cut. My budget maxes out around 7k for the diamond and setting so I'm thinking about putting most of the budget into as nice of a center stone as I can find and then have a fairly basic setting kind of like these- http://www.bluenile.com/build-your-own-ring/white-gold-engagement-ring_12962?track=product&elem=image

Another different direction would be to go the halo route, but I'm not sold on cushion cut halos. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I feel like I've been sold so much my mind is spinning!

Do you know what kind of cushion you want? Antique? Modern? I'd probably get a nice cushion around a carat and put it in a halo setting made by ritani or Gabriel & co to maximize the finger coverage.
