Please excuse my ignorance, but I''m completely new to the diamond world...
I am looking at a 1.00ct Cushion Cut Diamond. I''m fine with the color and clarity of it, and really like the diamond overall, but from what I''ve seen the depth seems to be out of whack in comparison with most cushion diamonds. It''s got a table of 67% and a depth of 48.6%. What kind of range should it be in for a cushion diamond? And as someone that can''t really tell a quality diamond from non-quality by just looking at them, what is a depth of 48.6% going to do in terms of appearance compared to a cushion cut diamond that is in the, more desirable, depth range? I have looked at the cut classes for Radiant as it''s the only cut guide I could find that was close, but the numbers don''t really mean that much to me. I''m more interested in if the depth is going to make it have less sparkle or light leakage etc.

any help would be very greatly appreciated
thanks
Jeremy

LOL! I was just going to suggest ERD! Mark_The Cushion Guy!

The depth is much shallower than you typically see, though. It is worth asking an expert about.

The numbers don't sound promising but then again it is impossible to determine how beautiful the diamond is from the numbers alone and also where your visual preference lies with regards to cushion cuts as there are a number of varying appearances in the realm of cushions. I've had cushions in my hands with similar table/depths yet take on different appearances altogether. The paper alone nor the facet structure represented on that paper isn't sufficient to determine the beauty, light performance or appearance unfortunately.

+ 1 , Call Mark ! :)
