Hello there!

Long time lurker, first time poster :)

I was wondering if you guys could give me feedback on the following ASET:
ASET.jpg

It is 2.14c, J, VS1, AGS0 cut

Thank you!

P.S. Please let me know if I need to move this post somewhere else!

ASET looks good. I assume it is a JA True Hearts.
The JA TH cushions have very strong light return.
The light return characteristic is very splintery, as opposed to chunky.
They are often cut really deep (72~74%), meaning spread is not so good.

Thank you so much, @flyingpig ! How'd you know it was a JA True Hearts? Such a newbie to this, don't know if the "True Hearts" designation was just some marketing fluff.

What does splintery vs chunky mean, and is one more preferable over the other?

Yes, the depth is 71.9%, so the stone is only 7.31 x 7.26 - is that too small for the carat weight?

Sorry so many questions, just want to know if we made a good purchase. Here's the diamond page: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/2.14-carat-j-color-vs1-clarity-sku-3586687

Thank you again!

Here is an example of chunky cushion.

71.8% depth is actually good for this style cut. I have seen as deep as 73.8%.

Spread is fine. Light return is fine
It is upto your preference and price.
Do you like the appearance and facet patterning? If so and the price is right, you did well.

Thanks for putting up an example of the chunky cut! I guess I do prefer this "splintery" look :)

I do like the appearance of the diamond overall and it's such a relief to hear that it is "technically" fine ;)

Thank you again, @flyingpig ! Cheers!
