cushion advice

After 1 year of indecisiveness about what cut I want for my ER I have finally decided to go with a cushion. So....I have started my search for the perfect cushion. I found this one. Unfortunately James Allen doesn''t have pictures and videos like GOG. How do I know if it''s a good cushion, that it faces up white and that it sparkles. How do I ask for more info and what info do I ask for? I''m confused.

Hi Jo,

Ask JA for some more photos, an Idealscope image and see if they can run a Sarin to get the crown height. It has potential in the pic provided if this is the type of cushion you are looking for.

Thanks for your help. I will ask JA to send me more photos. Quick question, what do you mean by this type of cushion? is it bad? I thought that it has nice broad cuts not the crushed ice look or am I wrong? I was also looking at this one but I feel it might be small.

No not bad at all, what I meant was cushions can vary tremendously in appearance so to make sure that is the type of cushion you want ( shape, faceting and so on).

The GOG cushion looks beautiful, you could ask Jon what other cushions he has available which might be a bit bigger if you are unsure on the other one.

Personally I like the facets on the cushion you posted. I also like that culet. I prefer this look to the "crushed ice" look. I figured this out by trying on alot of rings.

So do you want a square or a rectangular cushion?

Do you want "crushed ice" or facets like the one you posted?

Color will show up more in a larger stone, so keep that in mind when deciding what color will be OK with you.


If you do really like the JA cushion you posted call and ask them to look at it for you and tell you about it. And if you can get to Maryland maybe stop in and take a look at it before buying it.
