Following up on RSargent's post, I thought creating a poll will make it easier to see what age ranges we fall into. Totally anonymous so no worries about divulging your real age. I tried to break down each range further (by 5 years instead of 10) but I am only allowed a maximum of 10 options which wouldn't fit.

70's child here.

So we don't have any 14 year olds?! DAMMIT. We need to broaden our demographic guys!

I was thinking the exact same thing, lol. My kids are already too old...

This is fascinating to watch. I hope more people participate in the poll. It's a perfect bell curve!

80's kids we need 2 more votes right now to rule the PS world! :angryfire:

Wish I could double-vote, if only for your enthusiasm ;)

(Chrono - So glad you & Robyn started your threads on this subject - I had been curious about exactly this since joining the forum)

I'm disappointed that there are no teens voting. Where are all the budding gem lovers? My children check out PS / CS with me occasionally but aren't signed up, otherwise they could vote as the youngest participants.

Mine do too! They love the smilies (it is happening as I write!) They are also fascinated with NKOTB's avatar! I am switching mine to Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman to represent the 70's! (She is also my hero).

Chrono, I'm sure that there are quite a few teen lurkers but not so many members. I'm 16 and it was kinda difficult for me to breach into a new community where nearly everyone is an adult. We teens are constantly labelled and compartmentalised at school - we are used to a certain social norm - and so joining a place like this is definitely foreign ground.

Plus, since I rely on my parents financially (to whom I am grateful), I have extremely limited funds... I didn't feel like I had anything interesting to contribute or share. I still kind of feel like a boring member. But whatever.

I encourage aaaaalll the teen lurkers to join right now!

We'd certainly be honored to have more teens - especially if they were as eloquent as you.

Word. I never would have guessed that you were 16 LK!

70s and 80s are neck and neck! GAH!

LK,
Your posts are matured and well thought out and I cannot imagine any age discrimination against you here. Also, as I wrote in a different thread, your avatar stone is beautiful. There are many beautiful budget friendly gems out there that are great for collecting since a teen may not have the funds to set them.

Hehe, thanks :halo: I get all shy when people compliment me so... thanks again! :halo:

DANG!

I'm really sliding down the wrong side of that bell curve. ;(

Dudette, you do not sound like a teen. Keep on posting please.

I am surprised by the results; I thought the majority of people were 10+ years older than me.

I now notice that there are 155 users in and 925 guests online. I am guessing most of the users are over in RockyTalky? I started lurking over there, but came over here pretty quickly. Wow, I never really paid attention to how many lurkers there are.

I guess I don't count as a teen, but. XD; Does a young adult count?

Also, seconding what LK said, since most of us in this age group are financially dependent on parents, there isn't much in the way of funds, which might make some a little hesitant to participate. I know I mainly lurk =X

Thanks for this Chrono! Fun idea.

LK, glad to have to have you here!

I wish any of the younger members of my family were interested - then I'd have someone to inherit all my jewelry!

60's child here.

DK :))

And the 80s have overtaken the lead!

Mine is 2, so 2011, and she likes to surf PS. She really likes the emoties. Jewelry items too, but that's more of a real life thing....Especially ForteKitty's ring!
