Crown Setting

This might be a newbie question, but I can''t find any good explanations. My bf and I picked out a Beaudry setting for my engagement ring. I think it''s a crown setting. What is the definition of a crown setting? The pros? Cons? Any info would be great. Thanks!

hmmm...many times designers will just name their settings a design and they don''t really mean anything. Vatche for example has the Royal Crown, Ritani makes and endless love etc. I''ve never heard of beaudry naming a specific setting but maybe it has something to do with the design of the head of the ring which could be called a crown? not sure though. do you have a picture of the setting?

I thought a crown setting was like a basket setting or a bezel setting - the way the diamond was held by the metal. Am I wrong?

I'm just a consumer but I've never heard of "crown setting" as a term used to describe how a diamond is being held.
