Dear PSers, on another thread I read that some people have noticed they have diamonds with a 34.1 crown that are brighter and faced up whiter than ideal cuts with a 34.5 crown. Is this only linked too mrb ideal cuts?
Most ideal cut OECs I see have crown angles between 36.9-
37.1 - but that won’t make the oec ideal diamond appear less light than a mrb idealcut with a smaller crown angle - or will it?

I think we need a pricescope beginner guide on all diamond angles!

34 and 34.5 degree crowns do you see any difference?340.jpg345.jpg

Many real world examples of oec cuts have shallower pavilions than my virtual model so the mains under the table may be darker.
I wanted to show what is a bit of best case.

@Karl_K , is it true that brightness/whiteness are related to cr. Angle for mrb?

It can be argued that the steeper (34.6-34.7) crown will give you more fire than 34.4-34.1.While shallower crown angles will make the diamond look brighter/whiter.

I purposely picked mine to be 34.3 because it is an H color, which was making me a bit uneasy (the lowest I had was G color.) The stone is very white and bright (but it is also CBI stone so that might be the reason.) I also compared ACA 34.6 vs. CBI 34.3 and CBI outperformed ACA in fire (by a little bit.) Thus, I can confirm that steeper crown does not always equal more fire.

It also goes by preference - what you like. I prefer 34.3-34.5.

Thanks @daisygrl ! I have been following your journey. I hope you love your new stone!!

It`s all relative.
ie sure and everything else too.
The combination is what matters
