Did you enter them into the HCA under tools?

Well, John, I just did and got Ex, Ex, VG, Ex and 1.3! Looks like it might be a good one!!!

ETA: I am puzzled by this, though, because the graph shows the diamond falling into Ideal/Ex cut territory, so why is it classified as premium cut???

ok guys, maybe this will help you, help me. Crown Angle:33.3 Pavil Angle:41 All other stas are on the link below. Please let me know what you think!!! Thanks.

That is really not my type of stone, that''s a 60/60ish stone. It probably has the potential to be very pretty, but it''s not technically an ideal stone. Probably why it''s in the premium section. But with your budget, it could be a nice find. Typically I am for crown angles in the 34 range and pav under 41 but with the table/depth the crown and pav probably work well with them.

I think you''ve got a winner! HCA score looks great. Good luck, and I hope you''ll share it with us if you get it!

Mara, what's a 60/60 stone? Is that the table and depth? How does that affect the look of the stone?

eta: I've done my research, got it

But let''s not leave the impression that all 60/60 stones are inferior. Some are quite beautiful. Mine is.........

your diamond would land smack in the middle of AGS-0 candidates and GIA Excellent candidates.

How did Mara''s comment (or any of the subsequent ones) leave that impression?

She said they aren''t *her* personal favorite and that they aren''t technically ''ideal'' cuts.....both of which are true. She also said that some can be quite pretty, which is also true.

How does that translate to leaving the impression they are "inferior"?

John
if you''re looking for good #''s,look for crown 34.3-34.7 x 40.7-40.8 pavil. these specs should be within every grading lab''s "ideal" box.

He already had the ideal numbers. He was looking for close to 1.5 cts at $7500, I believe, so he was making some sacrifices. It looks like he ordered the diamond, so I guess we''ll see how he likes it!

Diamondseeker, you are right! I ordered it. I found out that I actually work about 5 miles from the James Allen headquarters in Frederick, MD. I was able to go look at it this afternoon, and it was great! While I know that there are higher quality diamonds, I am very happy with it. I''ll have it set in a couple of weeks and I will post pictures ASAP. I want to thank everyone who took the time to respond and help a novice feel a bit more comfortable. Thanks again!

Congrats!!! I bet it''s a really pretty/bright stone!!

Congrats John, if it is beautiful to you and fits your criteria, that is all that matters! It''s great you could also see it in person to confirm you like it. Please post pictures !!

Lucky you to live near James Allen! That''s great that you saw the diamond and liked it! Those numbers did do well on the HCA, so it had to be pretty! We''ll look forward to seeing the pictures!

alj.....I wasn''t being critical of Mara''s comments. Honest, Mara is my friend and I know she was helping. I was just trying to help John by not making him afraid of a 60/60 stone as many, like mine can quite beautiful.

Mara: I hope you realize I wasn''t pointing any finger at you.........

Respectfully...........

And neither, Rod, would I knowingly offend you.

My question wasn''t suggesting fingerpointing at all.......and I wasn''t criticizing you.

I was saying that I don''t understand why you''d feel someone would come away with a possible "negative impression" of 60/60 stones when none of the comments seemed negative about them. Honestly, I still don''t see why you felt some might get that impression from any of the comments made....not just Mara''s.

If no one said anything derrogatory about 60/60 stones (and from what I can see, no one did), how could anyone be left with impression they are inferior?

Quote from Mara: "That is really not my type of stone, that''s a 60/60ish stone. It probably has the potential to be very pretty."

Someone could be left with the impression that this type of stone is inferior because of what Mara said (above). Mara''s opinion holds a lot of weight for a lot of people here, and therefore, if she advises it is not her type of stone, then that will definitely scare people off. That is how I see it.

My comment was not meant to scare anyone off...derrogatory would be 'man 60/60 stones suck'...which I don't think is the case, but visually they are just not my thing, having already had a large tabled stone in the past. Also, I posted the link for the tutorial for more detailed information. PS'ers can draw their own conclusions. Honestly, if I really felt like this 60/60 was not worth checking into, I would have said so flat out.

Instead I just tried to convey my opinion that while I was not a fan of 60/60 stones, that this stone had potential.

My comment was not meant to scare anyone off...it was an honest assessment of my own opinion on the stone. Derrogatory would be ''man 60/60 stones suck''...which I don''t think is the case, but visually they are just not my thing, having already had a large tabled stone in the past. Also I posted the link for the tutorial for more detailed information. PS''ers can draw their own conclusions, if they are intelligent enough to find PS so I figure they are intelligent enough to sift through data and numbers in the best way that suits them. Honestly, if I really felt like this 60/60 was not worthwhile checking into, I would have said so flat out.
I know that you did not mean to scare anyone off. What I am saying is that your opinion is very important to a lot of people on PS and that is why I feel Rod felt compelled to put forth a defense for this stone.

I know you would have said if you thought it was not worthwhile, but speaking for myself, if you commented on a stone that I was looking at in that way, I would probably feel I should keep looking. Yanno what I mean?!
