I stumbled over this forum whilst searching through google. I am currently in the process of choosing a an engagement ring and so far have approached a reputable UK jewellers and have selected a lovely GIA certified princess cut 1.01ct Diamond platinum solitaire. Not entirely sure on the exact specs but the 4c''s are E VS2 with a very good cut. The diamond has no fluorescence and looks to be a very good deal in comparison to what other local jewellers are offering.

So with a budget set say $5500 for a loose stone what can you find for me?

I would like a princess cut, 1 - 1.15 ct stone with good 4 c''s

I had a quick look and found these stones what do you all think?

Diamond 1

Diamond 2

Diamond 3

Thanks all.

Hi Andy and welcome,

Are you still looking or do you want to stick with the diamond you have already found? If you have seen it and like it, then that is an excellent start, as Princess need to be seen to be judged properly for beauty.
Unfortunately, we can't tell much by the numbers of the ones you linked, we really need photographs and aids such as ASET to be able to judge these diamonds. Can you ask Abazias if they can send you some detailed photographs and an ASET or even an Idealscope image of these diamonds? It doesn't look as if these diamonds are in house, but possibly from the virtual listing, so they may have to call them in, you would need to check this with them.

Also did you specifically want such high clarity? It is of course a personal preference, but you could drop comfortably to VS if you preferred or even a bit lower and still have a very clean diamond. But it is up to your priorities, if you do prefer higher clarity then that is fine, I just wanted to throw that out there!

As you are in the UK, you could contact Dr Indira Marchant at www.bestdiamonds.co.uk , she posts here and is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about cut quality, she may be a good person to contact.
