platinum solitaire

I like anything from Mark Morrell, but the pics on his website look like most of his settings are for bigger stones than mine.

can I sacrifice colour and clarity to increase size, without increasing the price? Also, what makes it beautiful? Are their specific numbers that I should be looking at?

Sure. I don''t know how far you want to go with color, however. Unless your gf has expressed a preference for warmer colored stone, H or I is probably the lowest I would go for color. There are great J and lower colored diamonds out there, but most PSers who own those colors already knew they liked warmer colors before purchasing the stone. For clarity, you could easily go to SI1 with a good vendor who will confirm the stone is eye-clean.

Ditto jet on lowering things a bit. However, not all MM settings have larger diamonds. (not that .78 is all that small!)

Here's a few. Hope this helps.
