So, how is a foreclosure supposed to work? Because the crazy neighbor lady (and sometimes her hubby) has been coming back/into the house almost every day since they moved out, 11 days ago.

I thought I wouldn't have to see her anymore, but nope...they pull up to the house, open the garage door with the opener, go in, stay about 30 mins and leave. They did this three times on Sunday alone.

I thought that once you moved out, after a foreclosure, you had to stay out of the house? Again, their behavior baffles me...it's just a tad unsettling to see her pulling up to the house, knowing they aren't living there....again, I never know when she will just show up...ugh.

Any ideas?

A woman I know through a guy had her home foreclosed on.... She kept living in it for over a year. Court ordered her to get out so she stayed for more weeks (few months?). Only actually left when the police showed up to escort her. (2 years after the foreclosure?)

I'm not sure how it is "supposed" to work. Hopefully they are far enough along the process that they'll lose all access soon!

No, don't rile up a person who might be on meth and/ or bipolar. That would be a big mistake. But as far as getting involved, no, I wouldn't recommend that, either. This person has big problems, problems that a neighbor, whether good with people or not, just wouldn't be equipped to solve, or change. My 2 cents. I see that they've been foreclosed on. Then they must be trespassing. I'd call the police. If the police are or become complacent, I'd talk to a supervisor and/or hire a lawyer. Hopefully your nightmare will over soon.

Hmm, I don't know. Do you know whether it has been foreclosed, or where it is in the process?

Recently overhead a crazy story of a someone's neighbors. The neighbors seemed pretty normal, possibly going through a divorce. Their house was short/sale/foreclosed, who knows but they left quite suddenly moving their stuff. But then after a month of quiet, the husband came back. First he was just walking around, leaving some of the windows, doors open, which progressed to taking items out of the house, to finally starts literally vandalizing the outside of the home, at which point the neighbor called the police!

Hopefully this isn't happening! But it does seem like it is difficult to get some people "out" of a house.

Thanks for the replies! :wavey:

Yeah, not sure if it is in full blown foreclosure or what, but why would they move out otherwise, ya know? ...I DO know it was listed on a short sale several months ago, but then the sign disappeared and nothing else happened (other than her flare up that time) until they moved out, just over a week ago. I was really hoping it had sold, but I would think we would have seen some kind of 'new people' activity going on if that were the case....and then with them popping in all the time, I am sure it hasn't been sold. I sure don't want to come out and ASK her either! Ugh...I just want to be free and clear of them once and for all! No closure for me yet! But if I see anything suspicious, I will be calling the police... I just hate having to play detective and still be on guard.

foreclosure can take a long time. It isn't unusual for it to take 12-24 months after they stopped paying their mortgage. The sale date would be public record at your court house.

We have neighbors -- nice people, I feel sorry for them -- whose house was listed in pre-foreclosure a year ago & they're still living there. Banks are so backed up, it can take 1 to 2 years.

From what I've seen on the news, it isn't unusual at all for people to trash their foreclosed homes. Sometimes they rip out appliances, including sinks, & generally vandalize the place. I hope your neighbors aren't doing that, but from what you've said, it wouldn't be surprising. Unpleasant as it is, might be a good idea to fade into your house if you see them coming again -- you don't want them transferring their resentment to whoever even says hello -- which means you.

Too bad they don't go away & stay away!

If there was a sale you can check public records. In my city I can check via the city newspaper. Otherwise court house.
