craving more finger coverage...reset?

I was leaning toward halo...but having you chime in has made me revisit the thread where you were brainstorming for settings for your U/V...and now I'm not so sure! There are some really pretty ideas there!

Part of my issue is that I have never felt like a halo person? I love them on others but never really fancied one for myself. I love clusters, but wonder if maybe I shouldn't save that for a secondary ring/RH colored stone situation? I love LadyMCh's, but not sure it will translate on a smaller stone. And I really like yours @msop04 but wonder if it would be engagement-y enough?

If it feels engagement-y to you, then it's engagement-y enough! ;)

I have to say I never thought of myself as a halo person either but it does add quite a bit of extra bling that you love to stare at! As far as engagement-y that can all be up to your taste. I would not consider my new VC to be a traditional engagement ring if you look at designs from 1950 and later but before that the style is found often.

I love the mock up octagon but that may be a bit bias. LOL.

I was going to say halo until I saw your three stone. Can you keep that and just start over with another diamond? I love what you have!

Caysie made me a cluster ring with a light yellow cushion last year. I do not consider it an everyday ring. The halo on Queenie's has small diamonds in the halo, and it is not nearly as blingy as ones with larger diamonds. Sadly. I don't have any pics that show this ring well. The second pic shows how much the halo adds..center is only 1.63 and it appears bigger than my other rings that are over 2.3+ cts.

Oh, I adore the octagonal with french cuts for a round. That ring had a bezel set center

I would do msops ring or leave as is. I prefer your three stone but a plain shank halo is a nice way to get something with more coverage without feeling too fancy

UGH @diamondseeker2006 I am obsessed with your cluster!!! I couldn't believe that the stone was 1.63 because it looks so huge. Truly stunning. I understand about it not being an every day ring...it is a lot of look! And I would be so afraid to bang it up!

Wasn't that one a Singlestone?

Thanks for chiming in @Niel ! You're right... I think at least for now I need to leave as is until I fall in love with something. The last thing I want is for this to turn into an endless reset saga.

Maybe DS is right...I just need a new diamond!!!

Yes, the octagonal was originally ROL's setting from SS. Other vendors make similar styles, so you could have anyone make that since I don't think SS originated it.

My AVR is still in a temp setting after 4.5 years! It's at least good to be able to wear our rings while we think about new settings!

You were so amazingly fortunate to find that yellow OEC! I just love it!

Thank you so much DS! Much credit to you as well since you held my hand through the whole process. At the time I felt VERY silly for splurging so on this stone, but with your reassurance I felt so much more confident. I do feel very fortunate indeed!

And now I start quietly hunting for something with a bigger look while I contemplate all of this!

Thank you, @LaylaR ! That means a lot coming from you! Very glad to see you around a bit!

I’ve been studying my jewel Pinterest and all of my pins fall into three distinct categories....
-three stones
-big antique cushion solitaires
...and...
-colored stone antique clusters.
Maybe I just need to keep saving for an alternate ring!
I love LadyMCh’s but I’m not sure it’ll scale down to a stone half her size!

It's lovely to be back.

Post some of the clusters front you Pins (no vendor identifiers) and let's see what you like.

A new ring is often the best answer, but not the most practical financially.

Do you have a place you can try on halos and see what you think of them?

I never thought I'd be a RB girl, but...people change.

Not quite two years after finding my 2.13 fancy yellow OEC…I am craving something with more finger coverage. DSS is real, as we all know.

I'm just not sure what to do about it! I've toyed with selling and starting the hunt for something new, but I'm not exactly sure what that something new would be. I don't really think I want to re-home it, I just love the color so much.

Do I reset? Put it in an antique cluster style halo? Look for a same size white OEC and make a moi et toi?

What would you do?

Late to this thread but I hope it's OK to chime in. I am seconding @redwood66's suggestion...I love love love @LadyMCh's ring. TDF and I think your beautiful 2 plus carat fancy yellow would be AMAZBLING in a similar setting. I am not a halo girl either per se but IDK I could be for the right stone/setting. Good luck with whatever you decide and I hope you end up with your dream ring and DSS gone forever!

Sorry, bc I'm speed reading. I see lots of halo ideas. My stone is your size (8.2mm) and I have it in a 3-stone with 6.5MM sapphire on each side. I personally prefer that look to halo, but that's JUST me!!!

I just looked up your ring and WHOA. I think yours is a slightly larger scale than mine, slightly bigger stones and a smaller finger. Looks amazing on you. My FYOEC is a shade under 8mm and the sides might be a bit over 6mm but I don’t think they’re up to 6.5

I’ll come back with some more thoughts later tonight...I’m having major decision paralysis.

People do change! Takes a bit of a mental leap sometimes. I'm not counting on a local shop outing to be immensely helpful, but I think I'll still go. I'm sure there will be stock settings and branded things to try but probably not anything that would be close to what I'm considering.

Hey Missy! thank you! I still love LadyMCh's ring too. It is probably one of my all time PS favorites. It is hard to decide though!

We must have similar taste- I love that cluster! I think it is so charming. I have a few like that on my pinterest.

*Most* of my cluster pins are antique ruby/sapphire clusters. So now I am thinking perhaps that should be the route I pursue. So that option is percolating in the back of my mind...

In the mean time, here are the diamond clusters I've pinned.

I am also still liking the ones in higher up in the thread. I think the octagonal halo is a really fun and different idea, but not sure how I'd feel about something with an airline like that in real life. I also really like the filigree (is that what you call it?) style one that MSOP was considering. Of course, LadyMCh's and DS's are firm favorites as well, though I don't think for a ring that I would wear all the time I could have something as fancy/highly embellished as DS's.

I'm thinking that leaves me pretty much back where I started, with things clear as mud

Wowzer, you are one lucky girl! That yellow , lovely, lovely inspirations.

Oh, sigh, I guess I just have to say it that @msop04 ´s U-V ring is probably my favorite ring of all times. That stones does not look brown now, it looks fancy yellow, I think it is to die for. Everyone else´s are amazing too but if I had to choose one ring for myself, I would be inspired by that. Pure purrfection.

It is a bit of a different look with the yellow center. I’m not sure if it’s just the picture or if it would be like this in real life, but I feel like that stone doesn’t stand out as much from the cluster as LadyMCh’s.

Might be because of the yg bezel on LM's ring.

I don’t think it’s just the photo as I am inclined to this msops diamond stands out way more than any of the cluster rings I’ve seen with yellow centers

My goodness! I needed this post this morning!! Just popping on to say these rings are amazing...
@diamondseeker2006 I do hope to meet you in person one day with THIS ring on.. it's just dreamy.
@leukolenos can't wait to see what you decide.. but I do say i do like your ring as it is.. if nothing more than ease of wear ability on a more frequent basis..

Hi leukolenos,
What a terrific thread - so interesting and so many options! My sense is you are leaning towards a cluster, but I could be wrong ;-)

Since both halo and cluster will give you the finger coverage, I would suggest that you will be in love with whatever you choose. Don’t get Analysis Paralysis! Find what makes your heart happiest and leave the comparisons to other people out of your thought process. In my experience you’ll know it when you see it - keep hunting!

LadyM's has a nice bezel around the center that provides a nice differentiation. You don't have to do a full bezel but if you look at this picture you posted there is a milgrain circle around the center. I think if you did something like this, but with a yellow gold line around the center and then had the surrounding stones angled the way you see below it will give you a differentiated look without a bezel.

Bezel halo three stone?
Halo like msops but on the e and w side you bezel your current side stones?

Do you have an example of one you like? The ones I keep finding on Pinterest/google etc all look kind of naff to me.

Still oscillating between msop halo, cluster, leave it, and sell the whole dang thing and start over. So as you can see I’ve made a lot of progress here. Where’s the head banging wall emoji when you need it?!
