Not quite two years after finding my 2.13 fancy yellow OEC…I am craving something with more finger coverage. DSS is real, as we all know.

I'm just not sure what to do about it! I've toyed with selling and starting the hunt for something new, but I'm not exactly sure what that something new would be. I don't really think I want to re-home it, I just love the color so much.

Do I reset? Put it in an antique cluster style halo? Look for a same size white OEC and make a moi et toi?

What would you do?

I halo'd it. I love @Queenie60's yellow halo.

I would halo it. I reset my oec into a halo a few years back and it gave me the finger coverage I was looking for and cured my DSS. The pics red posted look beautiful.

Thanks @junebug17 & @redwood66 .
Red I have been following your VC reset with great interest! I can't wait to see it. Like you I do not have tiny fingers-6.5- so my 2ct looks sort of average rather than "wow" like most!

@LadyMCh's ring is one of my faves...in fact I think I commented on her SMTB thread that I was going to copy it some day! I love @Queenie60's too...honestly when I saw hers I felt really silly for paying for a FY when I probably could've just gone ultra low and been just as happy!

Do you think doing the center with prongs like Queenie's in a cluster like LadyMCh's would work? I remain unconvinced of bezels for myself, despite the fact that I think her ring is totally swoon worthy.
My stone is currently in a 3 stone so I have wall to wall east/west coverage, so I do worry a bit that doing a halo might not scratch the proverbial itch, if that makes sense...

I love the CvB halo settings and think that your fancy yellow OEC will look amazing if set in a halo! I also have a three stone ring (by CvB) and appreciate the e/w coverage, however, a halo definitely makes a difference. Not the best photo but here is my 2.1ct center in a three stone setting compared to a 1ct center in a halo.. the halo effect is real..

That is a really excellent visual comparison! I love your 3 stone too. I think maybe my center doesn't pop as much like yours does because the sides are larger.

I may write to Caysie and see what she thinks.

Thank you! It took forever to get the three stone ratio right, but I don’t think that there is ever a permanently happy place, at least for PSers :D some days, I long for a larger side stones, others for a solitaire, and when I saw the halo comparion, I thought about a halo as well lol
Regardless, it will definitely be worth it to reach out to Caysie and see what she thinks may work best for your stone and give you the extra coverage you desire ;)

Thank you! You could do the prongs without the base octagon shape under the stone like Queenie's and still have the larger halo stones like LadyMCh. Your ring size is smaller than mine and with the right size halo stones it could give you big coverage. I think Casey could definitely provide you proper proportions for that look.

Thanks- Red. I will definitely touch base with Caysie and see what she thinks.

I've started eyeballing antique clusters and remembered soxfan's which she has now consigned. I love that ring so much I was super tempted to buy it! Now that setting is so gorgeous.
I was browsing some of Victor's as well and all of the really good ones he won't do for client supplied stones! womp womp!

I would ask Victor because he was willing to do some of the settings that the website says no but he said yes when I was discussing with Nic.

One vote for a moi & toi ring, a bit more unique in my mind.
Of course, it would probably be the most expensive option as well :mrgreen2:

Haha yes I think it would be the most expensive! But it would also be really fabulous :Up_to_something2:
I figure a nice halo reset would be something like $5k ish but adding another stone in at around 8mm.....a lot more than 5!

Aw, shucks! Y'all make me blush! Sweetie Pie (the ring) is temporarily retired as I'm 36+ wks pregnant with sausage fingers to match my swollen belly. Leukolenos, not sure if it matters to you, but I picked a bezel to emphasize the roundness of the stone, to enhance the yellow stone with a YG bezel, and to have a strong visual divide between the main/yellow stone and the chunky white OECs in the halo. Also, I opted for the bezel to protect the girdle, as my stone is 100+ years old and a family piece. I was worried, now that it's getting worn regularly, that I would smack my big ol' stone in just the right spot to chip the girdle. We had it sent to GIA for grading prior to setting and found out some parts of the girdle were "thin". Allso, it's not perfectly round and appeared like maybe an old chip was polished out in one place. This spot was tiny and is 100% unnoticeable with the bezel.

Can't wait to see what you choose! So fun!

@Queenie60 are those yours? They’re gorgeous!

Can you post a pic of your current ring?

So glad you chimed in, @LadyMCh
Congrats on your wee one! Here’s hoping you can return Sweetie Pie to your hand soon!! I couldn’t wear rings at all much while with child so I totally sympathize!

I completely understand your reasons for choosing a bezel. It makes total sense, I would’ve chosen one too with your stone.
I am not necessarily opposed to one for myself, I think it’s a mental hurdle? I’ve never fancied myself a bezel person (that being said I never thought I was a halo person either yet here we are!!!). I am super paranoid about chips though and obsessively check my stones so it might not be a bad choice.

IMG_0245.JPG Something like this? Lots of finger coverage!!!
hey @Queenie60 Those are gorgeous!!!! I can’t wait to see it!
I think I’ll need something more basic....I’m not cool enough for a fun setting like that!!!

Wow! So gorgeous!!! But believe me, I know what the itch feels like.
Ugh I know. On one hand I feel sooooo lucky to have such a gorgeous and somewhat unusual diamond....but also, more is more right! The perennial PS problem

So pretty. I would halo it too if you want more size. But not in a cluster, personally.

I'd start a file or a pinterest page of jewelry inspiration ideas (I have one myself) and collect the ones that catch your eye, and then see what they have in common, and go from there.

Thank you, @LaylaR ! That means a lot coming from you! Very glad to see you around a bit!

I’ve been studying my jewel Pinterest and all of my pins fall into three distinct categories....
-three stones
-big antique cushion solitaires
...and...
-colored stone antique clusters.
Maybe I just need to keep saving for an alternate ring!
I love LadyMCh’s but I’m not sure it’ll scale down to a stone half her size!

Another vote for a halo... my OEC isn't as saturated as your stone, so it would really pop against a white halo!!

Mine is U-V (faint brown), so the YG bezel against the white halo helps it stand out much more than by itself or with side stones.

Your new ring is stunning @msop04
And talk about finger coverage! I actually emailed DK yesterday for a quote!

This is my kind of thread! @leukolenos a big chunky cluster is my favorite! That would be awesome!

@Queenie60 can't wait to see your new set!!! That is so cool and edgy! LOVE it!

@msop04 your cluster/halo has me drooling. Wow

I was leaning toward halo...but having you chime in has made me revisit the thread where you were brainstorming for settings for your U/V...and now I'm not so sure! There are some really pretty ideas there!

Part of my issue is that I have never felt like a halo person? I love them on others but never really fancied one for myself. I love clusters, but wonder if maybe I shouldn't save that for a secondary ring/RH colored stone situation? I love LadyMCh's, but not sure it will translate on a smaller stone. And I really like yours @msop04 but wonder if it would be engagement-y enough?
