OK - he's the deal. I noticed there's a good sized ding in one of the 1 CTW sapphires on my 3-stone. UGH!!!!!! You cant see it from the top down, or probably even at ALL, but now I know it's there. I emailed Jerry Newman, and from the description he's not sure it can be fixed. The options are: (1) do nothing for the time being, (2) replace one sapphire, but Jerry recut both of them when I abraded the tables on them, and I'm afraid the cut wouldn't match exactly - Jerry said maybe get a bigger stone and he'll cut it to match the other one, (3) replace both sapphires so they're the best match for cut and color.

Actually, just writing this out has helped clarify my thinking. Maybe a stone a bit bigger than 1 ctw and Jerry can cut it to match the other one. How would I go about sourcing a matching stone? Any ideas/thoughts are appreciated.

Oh no! Quit beating your jewelry up! I think you should send Jerry the ring and see if he can fix the stone. Or perhaps you can
get really good up close photos of the damage and see if he thinks he can fix it. Could Jerry apply "the fix" to the non-damaged stone
so they both retain the same look and will you like the look of the new cut? I would probably try to get answers to those questions first.

If the above doesnt work out then I would go with option 2 and see if he can find a "matching" stone to recut. If that doesnt work out then
I think you're down to option 3.

Got any pictures to post?

I honestly just wouldn't worry about it, would keep wearing it, and replace if it ever gets really visibly damaged. If you've already had them repolished once, maybe the best solution is just to learn to live with imperfections as little marks of love you've put all over a ring you enjoy wearing.

That's a good perspective!

I am not sure sapphires are right for an everyday ring for you if you have already had them repolished for abrasions and now you have a chip. It sounds like you need diamonds unless you want to replace your sapphires every few years.

That's seems to be!

Well, I've been thinking about this dilemma and my current position is that I'm going to keep wearing the ring as is; History suggests there could be additional sapphire dammage. When it gets bad enough, I'll replace both of them with new ones that are probably the same rich color, but a tad less dark.IMG_7943 (1).JPG
