Can you guys and girls please give me your educated opinion on this diamond? Should I be concerned with the graining? I've looked at it under 10x and honestly can't see anything. But does it affect the value of the diamond?

Internal graining is not shown. Surface graining is not shown.

The internal and surface graining is not something that would concern me in a VVS1 stone, so you are good there. The diamond has overall nice proportions, it is a 60/60 style diamond with the table being 59% and the depth 60%. I do think that VVS1 is an overkill when it comes to clarity. I would either go for a larger I colored diamond with VS2 or even SI1 clarity, as long as the stone is eye-clean. Or, you can get an H/VS1-VS2. The cut is a bit outside of the preferred proportions, which are the following:
table: 54-58
Depth: 60-62
Crown angle: 34-35
Pavilion angle 40.6-41

The stone that you are looking at will favor scintillation (white flashes) over fire (rainbow colors) due to the larger table and 34 crown angle. That is not necessarily a bad thing, it will still be a nice stone, just most people on PS like fire.

The stone also had medium blue flouro, which I personally like, but it is something that we recommend be examined for any negative effects like haziness/milkiness.

Lastly, we always like to see ASET, IS images in order to judge light performance best.

What is the price of this stone and what is your budget? We may be able to find you some better alternatives.

Thanks for the response. The overall price of the ring is 6999.99. The diamond is set in platinum with 41 diamond stones totaling .71 ct (halo and stones on the band). With costco it's hit or miss as it's not like you can just buy the diamond loose but the GIA report seemed to be pretty good and felt like it was a good value.

The HCA tool scored a 1.3.

Is a 60/60 bad?

60/60 is not bad, 60/60 is a preference. I have had a 60/60 stone and enjoyed it just as much as I enjoy my super-ideal diamonds.

Honestly, I have never considered buying diamonds from costco, so I can't comment too much on "value". You can likely purchase a comparative diamond + setting elsewhere.

For example, here is a nice H/SI1 https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...-h-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-331697 (there may be better options out there, I just took a quick look)

I am assuming that the setting is a halo ...JS still has 25% off settings today

Total comes to just about $6120..so I am not sure that Costco provides some great savings. I would personally prefer to select my own diamond + a setting vs buy a pre-set ring.

Yeah but I don't want to do a SI2 I would want to stay VVS2 or VVS1. The james allen setting is nice but it's 36 diamonds at .23ct weight as opposed to the 41 at .71ct weight.

Costco has lifetime warranty/repair/return policy with their jewelry.. but mainly price wise seemed like a really good value...

I say go for it if you liked it, especially at that price
Nothing wrong with the proportions. In fact, those are my dream proportions. Great spread

If you want to be sure of its light performance, just order an ASET scope from AGS

I've checked out Costco rings and seriously considered them. What steered me away was they tend to be of lower color grades and not all sizes were available, especially for petite hands. But later I learned there's nothing wrong with lower color grades as any diamond you buy is really a choice of tradeoffs. They will let you see the GIA report in store if you are nice to the manager but looks like you ordered the ring. I would say go for it and keep it. Costco is about as riskless as your can get given their return policy.

Yes they were very nice. They actually let me see 4 different GIA reports (any diamond 1ct or larger has a gia report with it).

Sounds like you know what you want to do. ;)2

I think buying the diamonds would be comparable as they were alone, but the price difference and quality in the settings is what is setting Costco in front to me. Just so happens that the settings are similar actually.

However if the diamond was no good or I was missing something, then I wouldnt' do it. My main concern was the gaining. They let me spend over 10 minutes with the loupe in an office examining the diamond and it looks really great, and I couldn't see any graining at all...but i'm not a gemologist and while the diamond looks great to my eye and the measurements seemed really good, I wanted some assurance!

They let you sit in the office with a loupe! You can't beat that for customer service. I had to stand at a counter but was allowed to take photos of the GIA reports with my phone. I think if I had asked they would have let me do the same as you.

Yes I basically had the loupe and was muttering hmm.. ahhaaa.. oh this is interesting.. huh... very nice.. yes yes I see now.. very interesting indeed.

But really i was l was just pretending i have no idea what i'm doing.

Proportions on the stone are pretty good. At that price for the complete setting, in my books, it's pretty good value. And even better given their returns policy. You could purchase it and then take the ring to an appraiser to get them to give their view on the remaining 41 melee stones. If it's still crap, then you can take it back. Otherwise, happy days.

I think their diamonds are Guaranteed to be no lower than I color and at least VS2 (1?) clarity. Not sure this applies to accent stones or just center stones.

If you but the ring, do come back with pics (thru the loupe too):P2

I would just recommend you try to look at an I stone in different lightings, and also that you try to see a true H&A stone in person before you commit to this stone. As said, it's all about preferences and trade-offs.
