Everyone was so helpful a few years back when I went engagement ring shopping. I thought I might check in for another purchase I am looking to make now.

I am searching for a 3 tcw tennis bracelet in white gold, was thinking 3 prong setting. It seems like prices have come up quite a bit since 2010? I am seeing a range between 3000-4000 for colorless excellent cut stones. Is that about right? Should I try to negotiate with an online seller or just go with the quoted price?

Thanks!

Edit I tried to delete this question in rocky tally because I posted it in jewelry talk just now. It seems like a more appropriate question over there?

One impotant thing I learn from having purchased various diamond jewelries pieces is that a diamond tennis bracelet is a must-have jewelry (staple) that I likely buy only once in my lifetime. Why must-have? It is versatile. I can wear it to formal occasions (to add more bling), and to my surprise, also wear it with jeans for casual luncheon/outing. Why one-time buy? Well, it is pretty expensive (due to the number of diamonds needed), and it is difficult to "upgrade" or unload (unlike a diamond ER). For these reasons, I think one must treat the purchase as a serious one, similar to an ER. In other words, get the best/most that you can afford (stretch your budget a bit if possible), and be choosy to get EXACTLY what you want. Don't skim on cut quality. Get the biggest diamond size that you can stretch your budget. Go with Whiteflash or BGD. Can't go wrong with either vendor.

When a fellow PSer was showing off her diamond tennis bracelet, I debated about the purchase, because 1. I thought it was very expensive at the time, and 2. I thought I would not wear the bracelet often enough. Now that I have bought mine. I am very glad about my decision and am eternally grateful to this fellow PSer for convincing me to do so. The price has gone up significantly since I bought mine, but it will surely be more in the future. Thus, get the best you can afford now before the price becomes prohibitively high in the future. Again, don't skim and go for the best cut quality. If the diamonds are small (therefore uncertified), you need to go with someone trustworthy like WF or BGD where you will for sure get the best cut diamonds. Besides, they are good return policy.

Forgot to answer your question. Call the vendor and let them know about your budget. You will never know. The vendor may come up with great suggestions.

Thanks for your reply. That is where I am stuck. I was looking on whiteflash and the cost for aca diamonds in the bracelet would be 3975, whereas I got a quote from idjewelry that is for 3475. She told me that the diamonds would all be ideal cut, fg, and not have any black inclusions.

I read another thread from 2010 where someone got a bracelet like what I am in the market for, with a good experience from idj and it was only 2000 at that time.

Any thoughts what I should go for?

I guess what I'm wondering.. is it worth $500 more for the WF diamonds over IDJewelry?

I love IDJ. Love them. Often IDJ costs less than half of what WF or BGD quotes - like with their DBTY necklaces. So for many of us using IDJ's excellent (but not ACA quality) diamonds allows us to get a piece that would otherwise not be realistic.

But for only $500 more I would absolutely positively go with Whiteflash. The ACAs are the best. They are worth such a relatively small increase in my opinion.

If the price difference is only $500, it is a no brainer decision for me. I would go with Whiteflash. In fact, I am very surprised that the price difference is so little.

I agree with the other ladies. I absolutely would want the one from WF.

Thanks, I was close to going ahead and getting the WF bracelet, after all your input.

Now I've run into a different problem. I'm keeping this gift a surprise.. but I've been trying to get a feeling of what design my wife likes better. I think she prefers the 4-prong setting. Maybe I'm blind, but I don't see any 4-prong setting bracelet on WF. The closest I see is the X-prong. But the difference in price between that and the 4-prong on other sites is $1200.

If I don't go ahead with the X-prong, do you think IDJ is the best online option to get the 4-prong bracelet? I see Blue Nile has it, but the color/quality of the stones seem lower.

Thanks again.. I appreciate all your help.

Yeah, that thread by DandiAndi is the one I was talking about, when I noted how much a price increase there has been over the past 2 years. Her bracelet looks beautiful to me. Too bad I wasn't in the market back then :(

But this is also kind of a late "push gift" also, since we just had a baby 5 months ago :)

Ask WF if they can get you the 4 prong bracket. They may not show it on their website but I think they can still make it for you. I have recently checked into getting one from IDJ as well as WF. (3 ct, 4 prong). Talk to Bob at WF.

I have the three prong, 3ct tennis bracelet from Whiteflash. It's stunning and sooo sparkly!

I wanted to jump in and give my opinion on the number of prongs. The stones in this bracelet are small and I feel like they might get swallowed up in a four prong setting and be too "metally". It's definitely a personal preference though.
