cost of 18kt vs platinum

I am new so I apologize if this has been asked before...

How much of a difference in price should I expect between an 18kt white gold vs platinum diamond eternity band? I have seen anywhere from a couple hundred to a couple thousand dollars difference. What is the average difference in cost ?

The difference in metal costs around $400 more for platinum on any setting from 18KT. I personally prefer 18KT. It doesn''t dull out as fast.

is there a reason you prefer platinum to white gold? some people prefer the weight, patina look of platinum as well as not having to rhodium dipped (however, my jeweler says their white gold does not need rhodium dipping ever but I haven''t bought any white gold pieces from them yet to confirm) other people buy platinum as they are allergic to the white gold content of nickle - (not all white gold contain nickle though so I''ve read).
