Help....I think I still have the ‘ DS (diamond shrinkage) affliction’ even with my recent re-set.
Afew questions: I am looking to upgrade to a 2 or 2+ RB. I currently have an H&A Ideal 1.5 E VS2. I love how icy white my stone is and I am wondering how low can I go down in color and still feel that my stone is white?

Will a 2 ct be large enough for me to notice a size difference or should I consider something slightly larger ie 2.2, 2.3 etc?

I am sure I will have alot more questions along the way, so thanks in advance for your input.

My poor husband thinks I am nuts, but as long I am paying the difference for the upgrade he can’t say much

color is a preference thing and totally your call....my idea of white may not be yours...esp if you currently have an F and love it's icy whiteness. it's very hard for ME to say what you would be happy with.

as for size, i would think that you should go over 2c to really feel like its' a jump. i had a 1.6 and knew i wouldn't be happy with 2c so i wanted as close to 2.5c as possible without a big price jump. the 2.3 was a good feeling for me. but at this point you may be hampered by inventory constraints and may have to be a little patient. good luck!

I think I will drag hubby to the jewelry district this weekend so I can see some RBs in various color and 2+ ct sizes. I definitely don''t want to upgrade and then wish I had gone slightly larger, espcially the way prices have increased!

I think that question can only be answered by the wearer and if your eyes perceive any warmth. You may find that you could go down to a G, H, I or J and still not perceive warmth at all in an ideal cut. Or, you'll be cursed like me and never go below "F" as your color preference.

IMO, I had to go from a 1.7ct to a 2.57 to feel I was getting my "$$$" worth in size but maybe for you a 2ct or 2.3ct might do the trick. It's a very personal decision and darn near fustrating when your upgrading.

Let us know what you find out after a trip to the diamond district. Your eyes will tell you how much color you can handle.
I''m color sensitive and I have a G, which I can definitely see.
I think if I got used to an E, I''d be stuck in the DEF range.
I was coming from a J, though, so I love my G.

I upgraded last year from a 1.53 G/VS2 to a 2.36 J/SI2 and whoooooaaa baaaaaby I have never looked back! I love the cut, the color and the clarity -- but man, I ADORE the size!

To give you an idea of the difference in size, here''s a photo of the two stones together.

What do you mean, like separate from him? HOw does that work? Just curious....

I think once you go look at stones, you will be able to judge if a 2ct. will be enough. I think 1/2 ct. growth would be very noticable to me!
