Considering Re-Setting my ER into Plain Band

I am considering re-setting my Vatche Serenity pave engagement ring into the Vatche U-113.

Although my current ring is beautiful, I'm not totally thrilled with the pave... I wish the pave diamonds were a bit larger with less metal showing, and the stone was set a bit higher. I'm also looking to get a wider eternity wedding band and think those look stunning with a plain solitaire... and there is less to "mess up" with a plain solitaire.

Looking at @nycspring and @Lynn B's resets really has me inspired and wondering if I should go with the simplicity of a Vatche U-113.

To the PSers who reset their pave engagement rings into a plain solitaire, did you regret it/miss the bling??

I haven't done exactly what you're describing but I went from a 5 Stone to a larger solitaire. I do not regret it but I do sometimes miss the blinding firecracker you would get sometimes. I think getting a pave band to wear with it will fix any problem like that though.

Well, you can see in my avatar pic that I have a Vatche u 113 at the moment. But I prefer a plain e-ring shank and diamond wedding band.

I went from a 3 stone baguette to a solitaire and I'm so glad I did. In my case the baguettes didnt add much sparkle and I love the clean look (for
me even though I drool over diamond encrusted settings all the time).

The really cool thing about having a solitaire is the versatility. You can stack different bands with it, get one of those vintage insert guard rings, a wrap, etc. Lots of fun when you're not limited by a decorated shank!

I think a plain shank is a lovely choice. Like @Winks_Elf said, you can play with lots of ways to wear it...especially if you have fingers that fit vintage settings!

My favorite look is the plain shank ER with an eternity WB. I echo the point about playing with different bands/looks - I'm the worst offender.

I had my pear taken from a ring with channel set shoulders to a plain solitaire, and I am SO glad I did. I still love my ring, many years later. I have a plain wedding ring & love the simplicity & old world classic style of that look. I also have a full eternity, so I have choices which pleases me.
