I have been shopping around since I posted last, and I have found a Tacori setting that I really love, but I have a question. After talking to some friends about the mounting, some of them mentioned that Tacori would only put a certain quality level of color and clarity diamond in their mountings. Now, I know that they only put a certain color and clarity in the sidestones and pave-set stones, but as far as the center stone that I select, what do they require, if anything? Do they require you to seperately purchase a certain quality stone before they will put it in your ring? Or will they put whatever center stone you want in the ring? I am confused.

I have never heard of Tacori requiring any certain type of quality stone for their settings. I''m pretty sure they will set whatever stone you have into one of their settings. i''d double check with a Tacori dealer.

I think this question is best answered by Tacori. What if we mistakenly answer your question and then you buy a diamond that cannot be set?

Well, as much as I appreciate your input and knowledge, I am not solely going to rely on what you tell me. I just thought MAYBE someone knew the answer for sure, and I wouldn''t have to call up Tacori. Anyway, I already emailed Tacori with the question, and their standard reply said that it might take 2 weeks to get an answer via email. Before I made a phone call, I was going to try and expedite the process.

Call a local Tacori dealer, they can answer your question quickly. Emailing Tacori isn''t the best way to get a quick response. Drives me nuts when people rely on emails. If ya want a quick answer, pick up the phone and call.

hi lxa503,

i have been working with a Tacori dealer on my setting and they will set anything i select, but for the most part Tacori will not use anything under G color and VS2 clarity in the setting they design for the smaller diamonds. so it might really show a color difference if you set a large I or J stone center stone need to their G or better smaller stones in the setting. you might want to take that into consideration depending on the setting. after talking to my dealer, i have come to the conclusion that the safest way to go is at least an H SI1. but the dealer said if the cut was right, you could go to an I or maybe even a J without a major issue. it just wasn''t a risk i wanted to take.

good luck!

tdiddy, your jeweler was right. many people here have Ideal Cut I, J, even K stones in settings with pave or sidestones and b/c of the cut the difference is hard to see, if at all. most of the time you don''t really see color in the pave/melee stones, they are so tiny, you really only see sparkle.

ixa- Just call a tacori dealer and please let us know what you find out.

We are an authorized Tacori dealer. The standard diamond quality used by Tacori in their production is G color, VS clarity. Tacori makes every attempt to work with their vendors to keep their customers happy and has worked with us on several occasions to use a HIGHER quality such as D color, VVS clarity in their production. The only restriction has involved the availibility of specific diamonds and the design limitations of specific ring styles. Lowering the diamond quality to something like an I color, VS-2 or something like that is probably possible, however a specific style number is required to get an answer on that from the production manager at Tacori. Note that changing the diamond quality might increase the standard production time of a ring, currently most Tacori rings are shipped within four weeks from the date of order... Hope this information helps! If you have a question specific to a particular Tacori ring style, I''m sure that we or another authorized Tacori dealer will be happy to assist you.
