I was looking at the "diamond price report" here on PriceScope and noticed that the avg price per carat for a .5 - .69 VS2 H is $1,954 in the Class 3A category, and $4,572 in the Class 3B category! Isn't 2A the BEST class for a princess cut and 4B the worst?Ive also noticed when looking at some princess cut stones that some appear to have a very precise pattern and other's look more like a piece of shattered glass (both were a VS2). What specifications can I use to determine what look the diamond will have without actually seeing it. The Holloway Cut advisor works only for round diamonds correct? Is there something similair for princess cut?Any replies would be greatly appreciated, and I thank you for your input in advance.

Hi BreenCP,There were very similar questions before. Please look for Oldminer answers in these threads: http://www.pricescope.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000063.html http://www.pricescope.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000068.html http://www.pricescope.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000116.html David Atlas (aka Oldminer) president of AGA is a developer of the cut grading charts for fancy cut diamonds that would be a good start: www.gemappraisers.com Should you have more questions don't hesitate to ask

You are going to have a very difficult time knowing much about a princess cut unless you look at it. I doubt you can buy one without examining it and comparing it to other stones.Pricing on princess cuts really is flat because as the cut worsens the weight generally gets higher. The appearance does not change a whole lot either. It is all a matter of slight changes and the overall effect of a well cut stone is quite distinctly nicer than a poor one. Since most people do not demand a well cut princess cut, they generally are shown fair cut ones that look okay and have the extra weight left on to make them tempting. It is a bit of deception that most people seem to like. That may change over time.
