I am trying to compare two diamonds. Both stones are approximately the same price and ct size. One is a G Si1 ACA and the other is a E Si1 BGD Select. The BGD is .03 ct bigger and .07 mm wider. If these stones were both eye clean, would there be a noticeable difference between them? Which would be more preferable?

you''d need a microscope to spot that difference in diametre

Any thoughts on the color differences?

probably you will not be able to tell the difference once set unless you are comparing the stones side by side.

Yes, I don''t think that you would notice a difference in size. My friend has an E and I have a G. Side by side there is a slight difference. The E has that really start and icy look whereas the G has an ever so slight warmth. Still blazing white, no doubt, but a different white than E color.

No visible difference for size, colour - possibly you would notice a slight difference with unset stones and direct comparison, less so when the diamonds were set.

Thanks for the responses. So I guess my ultimate question is . . . would a GIA excellent E be preferable over an ACA G if they were both essentially the same size and clarity?

Can you post the images for the BG diamond please and the ACA so we can make a direct comparison?

I dont have images for both diamonds yet. I will post when I have them. What images are the most helpful? The actual images, idealscope, aset?

idealscope image. But you are not comparing apples to apples here as the WF ACA is a H&A stone while the BGD Select is not.

A better comparison will be between a WF ES/PS and a BGD Select or a WF ACA with a BGD Signature H&A. Price and specs difference will probably be very small if any then.

That''s actually the root of my question. All other things being equal (price, clarity, size), is an ACA G better than a BGD Select E ? The ACA scores 1.4 on the HCA, and the HCA on the BGD is .9.
