Hello!

Firstly, I would want to thank all you people on this site where I have read extensively to learn so much about diamonds. Good Job, Guys!
I''ve looked at this diamond recently at a jeweller in Singapore and would like your comments, good and bad. This is meant to be my engagement ring diamond for my gal.

Round Brillant
Meas: 5.42-5.47 x 3.35
Weight: 0.60 carats
Depth: 61.5%
Table: 56%
Girdle: Thin to Medium, Faceted
Cutlet: none
Polish: Excellent
Sym: V. Good
Clarity: VS1
Color: E
Fluorescense: None

I was shown the H&A pattern in the scope too. Is this diamond ok with the GIA information above?

Anyone else from Singapore in this board too? Where would good places to look for diamonds be?

Thanks

Jeff

What are the crown and pavilion angle measurements? Nobody can really tell you anything about the diamond without them... Can you post a copy of the plotting diagram from the lab report?

That's gonna be a problem. I'n in Singapore and nobody here seems to have one or even be able to provide one.
Would it not be even possible to draw any basic conclusions off these numbers at all?

Hey Queoof:

All the measurements are important in making an initial assessment...

To everyone reading this thread especially the vendors in helping Jeff....

I thought I read through a thread a while back the possibility of contacting the GIA and if the diamond report or certificate number on the grading report was given they might have the full sarin info...Is there a chance Jeff could inquire this way and has anyone had experiences....

Jeff, if you can't get the sarin to make your evaluation, do you think the vendor might be willing to send the stone to an independent appraiser of your choice, and make the sale contingent upon his analysis..

Hi,
just wanted to know where have you seen this stone?(at which jewellery outlet? just curious

Does the store have / have you got an ideal-scope?
That will sort it all out

But from the H&A's and the depth table it has every chance of being a fine stone.

Hi,

I saw this diamond at a local jeweller in singapore. There's also a little red pamplet with the some AMORE labelling with it. Didn't really look at it thou. Anyone know what it is?

Hmm... I'll get myself a piece then. I suppose that you guys mean to say that the ideal scope should sort out the brillancy bit of a diamond while to H&A scope sorts out the symetry? How about proportion? Is it the same as symetry?

Correct - it can not look good with an ideal-scope and have bad proportions

Delivery to Singapore does not take long

Hi again,
Just wanted to know whether you have received your idealscope yet? because if you need now to view the stone,
perhaps I could lend it to you.

Hi Jeff,
You might like to do a price comparison from the few H&A online vendors like whiteflash, GOG, superbcert. I have bought from GOG a 1.39FVS2 stone. A second smaller stone was from superbcert 0.45 JVS2 for US$935.
You might like to request for more information from the local jeweller or send it to a local independant appraiser.
Alternatively look throught the idealscope as suggested!

I think that the stone you've looked at is pretty nice even without all the sarins and the idealscopes, just by looking at the diameter and all the other measurements. ie.depth table girdle etc.... tells me that the stone is pretty decent I don't think you should go to all the trouble especially if it has a G.I.A cert. the only thing i would do is check the web to see if I am getting a good deal price wise,as compared to other stones that have similar specs.

good luck
