I see a comment on a VS2 diamond AGS report that says:

"Pinpoints, internal grain line and surface grain lines are not shown."

I haven''t seen these terms used much. Can anyone give me a quick explanation what this means? Would any of these make it be not eye-clean? As VS2 rated, I assume not, but just want to check.

Thanks!

How big is the stone?

Unless it''s huge an AGS VS2 has a very good chance of being eyeclean.

Yes, " not shown" in a comments section of a report normally just means these are not an issue and are mentioned for the sake of completeness. This is no indication of whether the stone is in fact eyeclean, many VS2 will be in round shapes but it is always best to ask the vendor to inspect the diamond for you.

It''s this diamond.

The plotting diagram is supposed to show the things that were considered in setting the grade or that will be useful in identifying the stone later. ‘Not shown’ clarity characteristics are things that are present but that didn’t do one of these things.

It''s this diamond.
It looks like a great stone, discuss your concerns with Brian but I doubt you will have a problem.

Pinpoints are usually tiny diamond crystals, they are essentially smaller diamonds that were trapped within the larger diamond crystal as it formed. They usually look like tiny particles of sparkling dust, nothing to be concerned about.

Grain lines... internal or on the surface... If you were to examine a diamond under very high magnification, you would be able to see the grain of the crystal (think wood grain more or less) and sometimes this grain is visible under magnification or from certain vantage points and not necessarily others - nothing to worry about in most cases.
