I read some time ago that sapphire of royal blue of big size will become darker. Would like to know more about the reason behind, as it looks quite attractive on several gem cutters’ IG or pics. What makes this difference compared to real life? And is that mean smaller stone will look brighter and why?

Yes generally smaller stones will look brighter than larger stones of the same material because there is less material that the light needs to travel through.
