I will be purchasing a pair of diamond stud earrings and know very little about diamonds; please forgive me if this question seems basic. :)

I am deciding between two pairs, equally priced (and I am on a rather tight budget), and both greatly on sale at $199. They would be purchased online, so I cannot see the actual product. Both pairs are .33 cttw.

The first pair is mounted in white gold, with G-H color and I-1 - I-2 clarity. It "lists" for $639.
The second pair is mounted in yellow gold, with H-I color and SI-2 - I-1 clarity. It "lists" for $577.50.
I read that it is better to use non-colorless diamonds with yellow gold mountings. But...is I-J too much? I would like as much brilliance as possible.

Which pair would you recommend? I do realize that these aren't of the best quality, but, again, I am rather limited in what I can spend. Thank you so much.

A 70% discount from their "list" price?

Sounds rather suspicious to me.. Most likely you're bargaining for diamonds that are worth what you're paying for them.

That's ok really, but if one of your primary reasons to buy is the belief that your getting $600.00 for $200.00....I would want to know how many pairs of earrings the store sold for the $ 600.00 price.

Then you say you want dazzling, sparkly diamonds - which is generally a result of good color, clarity and CUT!

You may want to re-think this purchase, and wait till you can buy better earrings once your budget is better.

You could choose to get CZ's if you "have" to have something to wear in the meantime.

This may not be what you want to hear, but I believe its factual.

If you want nice diamonds then this sounds off the mark. They are just too cheap. Even if they are 2=.33ct, rather than 2=.66ct.
