I wrote a long post about this in the Colored Stones thread, but I thought I'd post it over here too.

This is a color shift (blue to purple in different lights) sapphire that I purchased and took to I D Jewelers to have set.

They found a fabulous setting for me, then put it together for me with wonderful diamonds that they hand selected for me. For those interested in stats; there are 10 1 pointers around an approx 7 mm stone. Diamonds are F or G, SI 1. My fingers are size 7 and 8, and the coverage is about 14 mm across. The cuts on the diamonds are stunning, I don't think I've ever had an diamonds that are more sparkly in my life. I think they did a pretty great job on the claw prongs, too.

In one photo, you can see the inclusions on the table of the sapphire (invisible to the eye) that may indicate that it is an unheated, untreated sapphire. The diamonds are completely eye clean.

So, that's my bling . . .

The tiny sugary inclusions on the sapphire. Pretty cool to us geeks in colored stones.

Not as thrilling as all the giant diamonds here on SMTB, but I did want to show off IDJ's colored stone setting abilities.

Oh I love it!! It looks stunning on your hand. If I saw you in the grocery store I would totally stop you to ask about your ring!

You said ten 1 pointers but maybe meant ten pointers? Whatever size they have great sizzle!

Your stone is gorgeous and the setting looks perfect!!! IDJ does such yummy claw prongs!

And I agree with Rosebloom, those look much larger than 1 pointers...

Gorgeous!

OH! You're right, I guess I mean 10 pointers?

The total diamond weight is 1 carat and there are 10 of them, so is that 10 pointers?

I don't know much about diamonds, I'm a CS girl . . .

That is a gorgeous ring. Love the sapphire.

Me too! I would probably follow you around for a while glancing at your ring, trying to get a good look and try to figure out a way to bring it up. I'm such a creeper :)
It is absolutely beautiful iLander!! Love the color shift! I'm a weirdo when it comes to blue sapphire colors but I think your's is exquisite!!!

Omg, it's sooo gorgeous!!! I love everything about it - color of the sapphire, setting, look on the hand, finger coverage - beautiful! Love those claw prongs too!

It is so beautiful... this is such a gorgeous stone with that beautiful deep sky blue... ah!!!

And the setting is perfect! I read your support of IDJ in another thread and how they have a variety of settings available on site - so excited to go and see them! Always wonderful to learn good things about the vendors - enjoy your ring, its a beauty!

Very pretty! Blue sapphires are my favorite colored gem!

Ai yi yi!!! 4 months is WAY to long to wait for this beauty!!! How about Labour Day (Sept 3)? Canadian Thanksgiving (Oct 8)? Rembrance Day (Nov11)? US Thanksgiving (Nov 22)? A birthday/anniversary/first date day/"Hi I love You" day??? OMG - I would go nuts waiting till then :o

Well, I guess 'good things come to those who wait'... (but seriously, go find a Santa or a Christmas tree costume and see what you can work out!! ;)) )

gorgeous color shift!!! so rich and beautiful.

That is one beautiful stone. I love sapphires. The diamonds showcase the beautiful color of the stone. Very nice setting. Wear it in good health

Poor you having to wait until Christmas to wear such a beautiful ring!!!! :(

It's stunning! Love the color of the stone!

Good luck with the wait. ;)

Cachette :))

Looks great! I love chunky pointy halos (hence my ruby) and the blue/ purple looks amazing. IDJ is doing a great job on pointy halos since that is also where uppy got her ruby done in a oval pointy halo. I honestly hadn't seen a really good round one until now. I think since with the round ones often they put smaller side diamonds but I think the pointy halos need bigger side diamonds for the ring to have that wow factor. So yours is perfect.

Thank you derbygal, Christina, I didn't even notice the prongs at first, then when I did, I squealed loudly, right in the middle of the arcade! :P

Hi Enerchi! Lol! :D Maybe a skimpy "elf" costume will do the trick? ;))

Hi Pandabee, Elisateach, Cachette. I bought and returned a bunch of sapphires before settling on this one from Gemrite. The color shift is much more obvious than the pictures, I couldn't get it in the photos.

Hi Rubymd. I love all your rubies! SO GORGEOUS! That same day, at the Met, I took a picture of a Faberge ring made for the Czarina over a hundred years ago. I've attached the blurry photo in case you want to see it too.
