color question

Would a diamond band that is G colored work with a solitaire that is I colored? Or should I find something that is a closer match? Thank you!

It would work just fine. I don''t think anyone would ever notice a color difference.

Standard advice is to keep within 2 colour grades ( assuming the diamonds are reliably graded such as GIA) so yes it could work subject to preference and individual colour perception.
