If you had two diamonds of the same cut and size, would there be a significant color difference between a D and say an H or I? Would it be a HUGE difference, or just slight? Also, is it true that princess cut diamonds appear bigger than round diamonds?

Thanks

Yes there is a visual difference between D & H colors but not much between H & I.
If it's one shade then there is not that much of a difference.
Princess cut diamonds appear to be a bit larger than rounds ,True, because they of their corners.

hmmm..ok so if you were to put the two diamonds side by side, you would easily be able to tell that the D color is much more shiny and brighter and clearer than the H/I color diamond. Maybe i should consider down in size, and up in color...hmmm

shiny or brighter? no maybe whiter but not a huge difference. Shiny/Brighter is more to do with cut quality (not shape, polish or symmetry) but whether the diamond is ideal cut. The better the cut the more light the diamond returns. There are loads of great threads on cut and the one way to get knowledgeable is to look at diamonds and compare D-G-I side by side and set, oh and get an IdealScope. This is how you are going to get an amazingingly pretty diamond. IMHO.

Who ever (other than Rapaport) said princess look bigger than rounds?
What baloney!

I read that in last months Rap and could not believe it - so I took 3 princess cuts, .33, .60 and .70 and laid out a line of rounds and asked 11 staff and customers to place the princess beside or between the round that looked the same size.
Here is the result:
.33, .60 and .70 princess
.32, .49 and .54 for the rounds.

All my larger princesses were already set. But never ever believe princess look bigger - they do not for 2 reasons:
They have a smaller surface area for the same carat weight (especailly if both are well cut).
The round returns more light and has better contrast so it looks bigger.

I completely concur as this has been my layman's discovery.

Agreed here too. I was disappointed with how small Princesses looked next to rounds of the same carat weight.

LOL! I've read something like that in the other forum. Something about the diagonal in the princess is longer and makes it look bigger?!
