Color and Clarity Help!!!

Hello Ladies,

I am looking for a cushion or a radiant diamond.

Is there a major difference going from a F diamond to a G or H or even an I?

And ofcourse if the diamond is eye-clean going from VS2 to Si1?

And can someone please explain florescence? I find that diamonds that have "medium-strong" florescence tend be a cheaper than diamonds that have slight-none.

The comparison below is for stones that have been checked by the same lab, i.e. all GIA graded diamonds, or all EGL USA diamonds, etc. You will see more variation when comparing stones that come with different lab reports.

F to G, no. G to H, no. H to I, no. But F to I, definitely noticeable.
If eye clean, you won't see the difference between a VS2 and an SI1, unless you count something you can see from the side.
Note that you are more likely to see a face up colour difference in radiant cuts since they tend to hold colour more than cushions.
The slight discount for fluorescence is only for high coloured (D/E/F) diamonds and the price difference is negligible in lower coloured (J,K,L) diamonds.

Chrono, there is a discount for fluoro in lower colors than D-F because I bought a G VS1 that was discounted a couple of thousand because of SBF. Fluorescence is a bonus to me and I prefer it especially in stones below G color.

Just be sure you are only dealing with vendors who supply pictures, as you cannot choose a cushion or radiant by numbers.

Oh, that's good to know. When I was shopping for Js, it did not appear to be discounted. Do you think this is recent? I shopped for Js more than 5 years ago.
