Hi Coatimundi,

I just bought a sapphire from Wink that Richard Homer cut. (it is flat faceted though) I think I''m getting your James Meyer setting. Did I read that the shank is only about 1.4mm? I usually like a bit wider shank. But did you say it is beefed up in thickness? I just don''t want a "flimsy" shank. I do love your ring and I can picture it with my sapphire. Thanks for any help.

There's a lot of great info in the thread below.

The shank is approximately 1.5mm--I don't have an exact measurement. It's built up in thickness to be sturdy. JM is a master goldsmith--you can trust that he does not make "flimsy" rings.

Thanks, Coati. I have talked to Jim a couple of times. I just didn''t want to call and bother him again. I will call him when my stone reaches me so that I can send it to him. Flimsy was probably a poor choice of words. I do tend to like a bit wider shank but the setting is so wondeful that I think I''ll be very happy.
