I''m about 4 months away from proposing and I have no clue where to start! I know zip about diamonds and how to choose, what to pay, etc. Anyone have any good resources, suggestions, etc?

Thanks!

Hi aphite! Welcome to Pricescope!

We can help you look, given you tell us a little bit about what you''re looking for! Also, how much to spend completely depends on you. Some spend $1k, some spend $30k! Only you know your budget. It all boils down to you and your specifics.

I think the best place you can start is at the top of the page under "knowledge" and read, read, read. Do you have any idea what your girl''s favourite shape is for a stone? Do you have a set budget in mind? The people on this board are very kind and willing to help, we just need closer parameters : )

I wish you well,

Bridget

Welcome. The best advice I can give is read, read, read.
Goodoldgold.com also is a great site for knowledge

Cut is key to buying a beautiful diamond. Read the tutorials on here. Give us a budget, what shape your girlfriend would like. Then we can go from there.

We''d love to help!! Has your GF dropped any hints or what type of setting and diamond shape she''d like?

Would she like yellow or white metal, does she like gemstones, modern, antique etc....

Is she a ring wearer already and is she tough on her jewelry? Does she have a job which might constrain what sort of ering she''d wear i.e. nurse, lab worker etc.?

Find out what shapoe she likes best .Then buy her the biggest, well cut, and most importantly colorless and well cut stone that is in your budget.Remember that she will probably add a better setting up then road during an anniversary. But that stone might be with y''all for a long time.Good luck and happy proposing
