I put a diamond on hold that has a cloud in the center of the stone. I asked for an inspection at the recommendation of the forum and the dealer said "The diamond is eye clean and the vault gemologist did not indicate that any of the inclusions are dark in nature." I'm hesitant to buy because the cloud is right in the center and when looking in person I've often been dissatisfied with stones that had crystals or feathers in the center because even at SI1 I felt I could see them.

Any thoughts on if the center cloud will really be an issue?
Any thoughts on if this is a good deal at $8.6k?

Here's the stone:

Thanks very much for your help and that of everyone in this community for making the process easier; I feel this might be the end of a long process!

Up to you if you trust them on their evaluation or not. You still have the 30days full refund period to determine if this is so.

That's said the proportions of the stone is not actually the best. Might have some leakage unless the numbers are rounded to make it worse than it actually is.

Wow, that tool definitely shows how much a small change in the crown/pavilion angle makes a difference. I had no idea! Thanks for the education Stone-cold11!

If you continue to look at SI's be sure to understand what they define as "eye clean" or, rather, tell them how you define it. I think you can trust WF, BGD, etc when they say "eye clean" but not all vendors use the same definition.

I avoid diamonds with clouds like I avoid the plague.
