Hi: I brought a diamond, which had been my mother's, to a jeweler to have it reset and polished. When I went to pick it up, they showed me the diamond had been returned and said there was a problem when it was polished and it was now very cloudy and they were going to send it back to be re-polished. I asked another jeweler and they said that a diamond like that cannot be ever be repaired. Is this true and what options do I have with the jeweler. Thanks for any help!

Did it burn on the cutting wheel, and they are going to polish off the burned area?

Are they saying that they damaged the stone?

Yes, I beliee that is what happened. But I'm concerned that this might decrease the value of the diamond?

That's exactly what I need to ask them. Thanks! Not sure what my options wil be then.

do you have insurance?
