Hi All,

We found an almost perfect cushion based on the cert. However, I am a little concerned with the comments Clouds are not shown. I searched the past threads and it appears that in a VS1 it is not really an issue. We haven''t called in the diamond yet since we didn''t want to waste their time if the clouds will really bother me. What are clouds? Would you buy a diamond with clouds? How do they affect appearance? Any concerns with the specs below?

Measurements: 6.26 x 6.24 x 4.37 mm
Carat Weight: 1.33
Color Grade: G
Clarity Grade: VS1
Depth: 70.0 %
Table: 67 %
Girdle: Thin to Slightly Thick, Faceted
Culet: None
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Fluorescence: None
Comments: Clouds are not shown.

In a VS1 I could not see it being an issue. The comment is made on the report for the sake of completeness :).

No, in VS1 it should not be an issue - clouds not shown is often seen in the comments section of a grading report. They are mentioned for the sake of completeness, as to plot them would be time consuming and make the grading plot unecessarily messy, but it shouldn't be a problem and I don't think you would even notice anything anyway.

Also you can't judge a cushion by the numbers as there are too many variables, have you seen this diamond, or a picture? If you could get an ASET image, that would be useful.

My VS2 RB has a cloud. In fact its only other inclusion is a tiny indented natural that I''ve never been able to see, even with a loupe, and my jeweler couldn''t find it either before he set the stone. So I am guessing the cloud was the only thing that brought it all the way down to VS2 (so it''s a big one) and it is completely invisible from the top. Even though I know where to look, which is dead center! The only thing is, I can easily see it from the side. This doesn''t bother me at all, because for one thing, it''s a nice way to easily identify my one stone if some jewelry store wants to take it to the back to clean it. But also, it just doesn''t take away from the beautyl of the stone. Being a cloud, it has no color, so it''s not like an ugly black spot or anything. Looks more like a bubble floating to the top of a martini

I would think the clouds would be pretty tiny if they''re not even on there so it wouldn''t prevent me from buying it.

I wouldn''t worry about any visible clouds in a VS1 stone. If you''re still working with ERD on this search, Mark will reject it if it doesn''t meet his standards.

Thanks everyone. I still don''t know who he is working with .. I am guessing either Mark, or GOG or David S. However, he is welcomining suggestions from me now ... I always said I wanted everything to be a surprise but I like being involved in the process.
