You're very welcome GG. It's what we do 'round here.

Without having the ring here in 3D all I can do is take a stab... Looking at the photo, that tiny circle looks like a water spot or residue on the diamond's pavilion ... or a crystal (unlikely in a VVS stone). Perhaps it will disappear if you clean the diamond again? If not, it's an inclusion that's reflecting. A diamond is a bunch of dynamic mirrors and the prongs, the head of the diamond, the shank, your camera, the position of your body, the way light reflects from the blue box underneath, the setting, etc. can all cause different things you see in it. That's why one would really need to have it in-hand to be able to tell you decisively.

If you don't mind a suggestion, print these photos with the arrows to take to the rep - for ease of communication.

Also, you didn't answer about how the diamond looks in other lighting conditions. Are you obsessing?

I am definitely obsessing! That's what do best!

However, I see the floating smudges in many different types of lighting and under a loupe, well then, it's enough to make you queasy. And to answer your other question above, no one has noticed this, not even the fiance who paid for it. I am the only obsessive person who inspects things to death. I have received nothing but outrageous compliments since this beautiful stone graced my hand.

Thanks for your advice. I will update the thread once I get into the store. They better be able to make me happy darnit! LOL!

No problem GG.

It''s nice to hear others have been complimentary, and either way you''re working with a reputable company that aims to please. Let us knows how it goes.

You can''t ask for a better store to be in this situation with. You paid a premium and you will get something back for it. They will make this right if the inclusion won''t go away with cleaning. Just take your time and have them send 4 or 5 more stones in and get what you deserve.

Thank you, that is encouraging indeed! I will make the appointmen for this week and hopefully our minds will be assured. I told the fiance about it last night. He wasn''t too happy but I told him what you all said about Tiffanys being the utmost in customer satisfaction so hopefully our problems will be solved soon. Thanks guys.

I dunno if this will help, but whever my ring hasn't been cleaned in a while (I take it to my jeweler and they put it in a pro cleaner for me) it starts to look like it has visible inclusions in it, when really it's just dirt stuck to the pavillion underneath, that I can't get at with a toothbrush or anything household...

And considering it's a Tiffany ring, there shouldn't be anything wrong with it. Right? I always thought with that company, the huge prices you pay, that you'd at least be able to rest assured that your diamond is of sensational quality.

I'm sorry you've found your ring isn't eyeclean (or, "mind" clean). I suppose ignorance IS bliss!

Good luck at getting to the bottom of this.

A diamond isn''t really clean until its PS clean. Cleaned a week ago!! Most of the people here clean diamonds daily or even twice a day!! If it was recently sized it may well be some residue from that. It can be harder to remove than daily wear dirt. When you take it to Tiffs to have them look at it have them run it through their cleaner first.
