What metal is the setting made from, and does the ring have pave? My appraiser suggested I soak my ring (a platinum diamond solitaire) overnight (every night!) in a 50/50 solution of sudsy ammonia and water. In the morning, you just take it out and rinse it really well. It works wonderfully and keeps my ring sparkling like crazy without the investment of an ultra sonic. I just bought one of those tubs of jewelry cleaner with the little basket in it, used the cleaner for a while, poured it out, and refilled it with the ammonia/water mix. I''ve had several people ask me if my ring is brand new because it looks so shiny. It''s a great cleaning method for me, because I don''t like wearing jewelry to bed anyway. The caveat, though, is that ammonia isn''t good for gold or silver for long soaks, so only use the overnight method with platinum jewelry. Some people might find every night to be a bit obsessive, but I can immediately tell the difference if I miss a cleaning!
I was using that one but mine stopped working after a few weeks. . .Date: 1/1/2008 9:28:19 PM

This liquid dip cleaner has worked well for me:

And it''s much cheaper than an ultrasonic...
I got mine at Wal-Mart.
