My new fiance'' loves her ring (pics coming soon) but she wants to keep it clean are there any suggestions?

I''m willing to spend between $50-75, are there any suggestions? Will cleaning wear down the setting?

The Sharper Image Ultrasonic is a very popular item around here and it just happens to be on sale for $49.99 right now! If the ring is pave I would probably look into the Jewel Jet, which is also quite popular... And many people have both

I just use window cleaner with ammonia and a very soft brush. I keep a small jar of it around and every week or so I soak my rings overnight. I find it works well.

I use both all of the suggestions above. I have an US, a Jewel Jet steamer and heat up windex and purified water in the microwave. They all do a marvelous job.

I tend to be a bit obsessed with getting my stone clean. I have the Sharper Image Ultrasonic. It''s ok. I got my sister a professional, big cleaner (I forget the brand). And I have messed around with toothbrushes and canned air. I had someone from Harry Winston tell me the best thing is to soak it in Windex in a glass. I do that, scrub a little with a baby toothbrush, and finish with canned air, if I want to be really fancy. It works better than the ultrasonic, honestly.

What metal is the setting made from, and does the ring have pave? My appraiser suggested I soak my ring (a platinum diamond solitaire) overnight (every night!) in a 50/50 solution of sudsy ammonia and water. In the morning, you just take it out and rinse it really well. It works wonderfully and keeps my ring sparkling like crazy without the investment of an ultra sonic. I just bought one of those tubs of jewelry cleaner with the little basket in it, used the cleaner for a while, poured it out, and refilled it with the ammonia/water mix. I''ve had several people ask me if my ring is brand new because it looks so shiny. It''s a great cleaning method for me, because I don''t like wearing jewelry to bed anyway. The caveat, though, is that ammonia isn''t good for gold or silver for long soaks, so only use the overnight method with platinum jewelry. Some people might find every night to be a bit obsessive, but I can immediately tell the difference if I miss a cleaning!

Her ring is a channel setting w/ (4 on each side of center stone) and it is 14k white gold.

I just dont want to damnage anything.

Then you don''t want to use ammonia. The Sharper Image Ultrasonic is on sale right now, so it is the time to get it. It is less than half price. I have always used the little jar of jewelry cleaner soaking my rings for a few minutes, brushing with a very soft baby toothbrush and then rinsing. That has worked pretty well, but I decided to splurge and get the Ultrasonic!

I got the Sharper Image ultrasonic cleaner for Christmas and I am very pleased with it.
I used to soak my rings in Windex and then brush with a soft brush and that worked nicely too but the cleaner works wonders! Just off the shelf look in 5 minutes!
