I was just curious. For those of you who have purchased diamonds online, where do you take your diamonds in for cleaning? Can any local jeweler clean it? Or do you do it yourself? I would be scared to clean it myself because I''ve never done it before.

most of the folks here have a home ultrasonic cleaner. any local jeweler will normally offer to clean your ring for free though if you go into their store.

If you have a delicate ring with pave, it''s better not to use an ultrasonic. If you have a simple setting, it''s fine and probably the best way to get your ring super clean. I have a pave ring and I use the jewelry cleaner from the drugstore that is about $5 and comes in a little jar. It is ammonia based and safe on most diamonds and gemstones (not pearls or opals). I let it sit in the cleaner for about 30 seconds and then I scrub it with a toothbrush. Finally I rinse my ring off under warm water and wipe it dry with a non-shedding towel.
