Personally feathers bother me the most.
A feather is a nice word for a crack.

I'd rather have a cosmetic inclusion than a mechanical one.

I read here how feathers are nothing to be concerned about as long as it does not reach the surface, IIRC.
Also I read here that if a diamond survived the enormous stress of polishing then it is mechanically sound.

But still, if I had narrowed my choices down to two diamonds and one had feathers and the other didn't I'd opt for the one without feathers.

If the feather doesn't extend to the surface it's usually not a problem. Location of a feather is key... Some can be a real durability issue. It all depends on the feather and how far reaching it is.

Thanks Moh 10 and Kaleigh

I have a trouble, if I buy a 0.5 Carat GIA diamond from online shop, there is no indication on the location of inclusions.
I can only select the diamond base on GIA report. So I think I will not consider the diamond which has feather.

How about Cloud and Crystal? Will is affect the Light Return?

If a cloud or a crystal is the grade-setting (most serious) inclusion in a VS1 or VS2 diamond it will not be substantial enough to block any appreciable amount of light.
If it is just not the grade-setting inclusion it will be even more minor.

To see what I mean go to WalMart and look at their diamonds.
I saw many so polluted with clouds that they look like milk.
These must be very very low clarity like around I3.

VS1 and VS2 are very clean diamonds.

Ditto Kaleigh, rarely are feathers an issue in VS clarities. Clouds and crystals are not normally an issue in VS clarities either although grade setting clouds can be occasionally in SI grades.

Ditto the above, no worries about any inclusions in the VS and higher range.
