Clarification on Pricescope RepScope

I started looking at the per carat based on AGA and found a huge discrepancy between the actual Rapaport report. Can consumers get diamonds for these prices? Example:

1.72C, HVS1, XXX GIA Certified I found best price as $14,768. This stone graded 1.6HCA, 1A on AGA. According to Rapaport Repscope, the Rapaport Price is $12,350...but on the actual Rap sheet its $15,308. Which # do I use in terms of negotiating?

Can someone kindly explain this to me? Thank you!
 
Do a thorough Pricescope search for similar well cut diamonds and see what other dealers ar actually asking right here. The AGA Cut Class and HCA are screening tools, not negotiation tools. Dealers will dismiss you as they generally know little about either one except for Internet dealers on Pricescope who already recognize tjhat they must be very competitive to make sales. There are so many details that you have not supplied that making a buy or avoid decision is not yet possible. Do some more looking and discover more of the process first.
 
ah thank you that makes perfect sense now. basically the design on the Pricescope Repscope takes ALL of the diamonds regardless of the cut and puts it into their rapaport pricing. Thanks for the clarification!
 
Rapaport is nearly useless for consumers. It’s a negotiation tool for dealers to use against you, not the other way around. You are far better off using specific offers from competitors and asking the dealers to defend both their products and their prices in light of what they need to bid against.
