What insurance does everyone recommend? I like Chubb since they give a cash pay out. However, I was told by a local agent that Chubb will not offer a personal article policy without an additional home or auto policy. Looking through the forum it seems other people have had some agents give them this line as well....doesn''t make sense why I would need to take out an auto policy to be eligible for an insurance policy on my ring. Does anyone have Chubb or recently taken out a personal article policy?

I added a loose stone to my home policy here in Canada. The insurance company is Aviva (formerly Pilot) and it is $2.33 per $100 covered per year. I don;t know if that is good or bad but that is what I am paying.

It may help other if they knew where you are from...

I''m in Ohio - I was going to add the ring to my home policy but many companies will repair or replace a stone. I haven''t found another company that could give a cash pay out.

I tought my policy was a cash payout - I will have to check.

Most Chubb agents, and their main office, seem completely comfortable misrepresenting their policy.

Touchstone Insurance will get you a Chubb Stand alone policy (search here or google). Probably you need to have a valuation of $12K or more for them to be willing to get involved. If less, you can keep looking, digging into other threads here, but it''s not a cakewalk.

Otherwise, for replacement, and stand alone, Jeweler''s Mutual is quite popular.
