Hello,

Can anyone recommend a Chubb Ins. agent in the Chicago area who will offer a jewelry only policy, and not try to up-sell me on an additional renters'' policy? (I''ve been on the Chubb website and the list is pretty long. Just wondering if anyone has already dealt with this issue.)

Or alternatively, can anyone recommend another Ins. agency that will offer a cash settlement policy as opposed to a replacement? I just purchased a 1.73ct. ACA with a Mark Morrell setting, and - in the worst case scenario - I don''t want to be dealing with an insurer''s "preferred vendor" or anyone else for that matter.

Thanks in advance.

Hi BGB

Not all Chubb agents can offer this.

Here''s one that can for you - He is licensed in Illinois, but is located in NYC.

For a previousl consumer I had in Chicago, the premium was surprising reasonable with him.

His name is Bill Castro.

He is a nice guy, and mention that you got the information from Rockdoc. He''ll bend over backwards to help you with the standalone Chubb coverages.

Great! Thanks very much, you saved me a lot of legwork.

Why should I mind. I know that Bill Castro is very professional and is able to provide the policy and coverage without any pressure to buy other policies.

Plus - even though I didn''t appraise your stone, and Chubb doesn''t require it, I know it is the best advice and insurance policy to get, and is my primary mission to help consumers.

Hope you like Bill.....

Thank you Rockdoc. I just don''t like using other people''s names without asking them first. I wouldn''t have even known about Chubb insurance if it wasn''t for all the info on this site.
Thanks again...you''ve saved me alot of time and effort :)

I searched and searched for a Chubb agent to write me a stand-alone policy. Then I discovered that State Farm will give you the money. It took me all of 15 minutes to insure my ring.

Are you sure about State Farm? My current policy clearly states that they will replace my diamond and setting at their discretion and will determine to what lengths the damage constitutes replacement and whether or not it will even be replaced. After reading all of this...I have decided it is in my best interest to go with Chubb. I love State Farm for everything else but if I ever lost my ring/damaged my diamond I wouldn''t want them dictating where and who I would buy from and also what I would replace it with.
