Very very excited this morning, my jeweller has got the stones in for my replacement e ring and I am going to Hatton Garden tomorrow to select one! Hopefully will be able to post a picture after the weekend! Am having a oval and I wondered has anyone got any tips on what I need to be aware of? What is a bow tie?

I don''t know much about ovals Lottie but I just wanted to say good luck in choosing! You must be very excited!!!

A bow tie is the dark shadow on the bow of the diamond...it looks like a mans bow tie. You''ll easily be able to see it since they are fairly noticeable.

This tutorial has examples of bow ties so you will know what to look for. Above all, use your eyes when choosing and go with the diamond you find beautiful. Also see if you can check the stone out away from the store lights to make sure it appeals to you in more '' real life'' lighting conditions.

Thanks Maisie, we are moving in a few weeks so it''ll be my last chance for a mooch around London as well - not sure my husband is as excited as I am though lol!

Thanks for the bow tie info it was helpful

Well I don''t know if this will interest anyone but but if I talk about it anymore to my husband the poor man will explode!

I went and picked my stone! Its a 0.52ct (tiny by PS standards but still lovely) G, VS2. I chose a very plain setting for it and am now wondering if I did the right thing - its exactly the same as my wedding band (except my wedding band is set with diamonds in a rub over setting) but the diamond just perches on top and I like the fact that the rings look so good together, however should I have been a bit more adventurous?

Anyway its ready in a week so fingers crossed I made the right choice

Of course we are interested Lottie and we look forward to pics when you get the ring, it sounds lovely! You fell in love then with your diamond??

I don't think you should have been more adventurous at all, classic simplicity is always right and will stand the test of time.

Ditto Lorelei! Oh course we care... We

It sounds like you went with your gut instinct regarding the setting. That''s usually the right answer! Don''t look back... Just come show it to us!
