Choosing Memoire over Tiffany and Dream? Help Point Sz Poll?

Any opinions on choosing Memoire over Tiffany and the BGD Dream band? Or Custom Whiteflash? IDJ is out for me.

Is this a mistake?

I am hoping that all Memoire owners stop by and give some input. I have heard this is a very low set band that is VERY well made with good diamonds. I am curious if you Memoire owners can tell me if the diamonds are well cut and very sparkly? That I won't notice a difference? I really loved the comfort and sparkle of the Tiffany bands when I tried them on and realize that I am really looking for a comfortable ring that requires no work. I decided to take a chance and get quotes from Pearlmans and they are really more reasonable than I expected especially when comparing to the Dream band.

So for all 7,9 and 11 stone wearers any brand. What pointer size do I want? I wear a 5.75 or 6 and want the diamonds to cover the top but not rest in-between the fingers. I also posted the tiffany band and most people liked the 8 pointer 7 stone band. I am tempted to go with the 8 pointers even though it is 9 stones. Part of me is really curious about wearing .10 pointers too. Same price for both those bands.

5 pointer 9 stone .50

The .75 are the same price.

The .50 are the same price.

I recently had the same debate as you...which size pointers to get for my eternity. I have a shared prong low profile eternity that is like the Memoire and Dream rings. I had it custom made. All stones are ideal cut and G VS/SI1. I debated between 8, 10, and 12 point stones. I didn't really notice a visual difference between the 10 and 12 point stones so I went with the larger. I wear it with my solitaire or on my right hand. Everyone has different opinions. Get what YOU like most. I personally don't feel like you have to buy Tiffany or Memoire to get a beautiful sparkly band. Just make sure they are using ideal cut stones. Mine is pictured below for reference and my ring size is 6. Sorry for the bad cell phone photo.

I love memoire. If I had the budget, they would be my top choice. The diamonds are superb and the quality is amazing.

As for size. It depends. Is this standalone (go for largest melee and most coverage, IMO)?

IF it is to wear with your ring, I'd have to see pics of the different sizes (or close to them) with your ring.

I'm just really torn on point size. I don't want the rings to rub between my fingers. I am hard on my rings and from doing my reading on here I keep hearing how the memoire bands are really well made and strong. That's why I want a half band instead of eternity. My hands are always on the floor and grabbing metal springs etc. I know you all have warned me about my rings before but if I didn't wear them all the time I wouldn't. So!

This is a ring that I will wear with my 2mm wedding band and my 2 mm perlee ring most of the time and sometimes as a standalone band.

I am leaning towards the 8 points but it is 9 stones and I am worried that they will be between my 5.75 finger. The 8 points is what I liked best in Tiffany. Actually the memoire band is a little more than 8 points.

I like Mayks ring which is the same price as the 8s just less diamonds. That I worry will be too much with my stackers.

Not sure about the 5s. But they are $680 less than the other two.

Here are the Tiffany pics of the 9 3s, 7 8s, 7 13s to get an idea. I guess the 10s would fall in the middle.








I know that people go to other vendors to get "low set" rings done all the time. But I don't want to hope it turns out the way I want it. I need a sure fire yes. If I had the budget to spend on the Tiffany I would have in a heartbeat because of its low elegant setting even knowing that I could go elsewhere for a lesser expensive eternity and I have before. Btw the quotes for the Dream band in the 5point and 8 point have been about the same give or take a little.

Oops I didn't mean to post two pics of the 8s which are the middle pics! So based on that 7 stone do you think 9 stones would be rubbing between the fingers?

And they do have a .50 7 stone option but based on Mayks pic I don't think that would cover the top half of my finger. Since hers are 10 almost 11 pointers and we wear the same size.

FWIW, I have had a Memoire shared prong ring for 7+ years and it is indestructible! I wear it almost every single day (solo, stacked, sometimes with e-ring). I tried on the T&Co. version but ended up getting the Memoire because it just felt better on my finger (and I say that as a fan of many T&Co. pieces). I didn't upgrade the normal Memoire stone quality or do anything special; it's still sparkly & good-looking to my eye (would be even better if I kept it cleaner!).

The ring's held up incredibly well all these years and has taken more than its fair share of abuse. It's been a great choice in terms of quality and ease of wear and I give it two thumbs (or ring fingers?) up.

Good luck with your decision...you have terrific choices and can't go wrong!

Pictures are in that thread and while the size comparison doesn't do you much good, I can absolutely vouch for the quality of the Memoire setting. It was highly recommended and I have never regretted purchasing it. I have a Tiffany 3 mm channel set wedding band which I love too. I'd be hard pressed to recommend one over the other but I can assure you they are both top quality in terms of workmanship.

I chose the Memoire mainly because of price compared to Tiffany, but to me, those are the two best quality and lowest set. I adore the Tiffany bands but would only buy one of the larger ones second hand, as I told you before. I did upgrade the stones on mine to VS, which MayK has on in her picture above. You do need the 7 10+ pointers to cover the top of your finger. And I think any smaller than that wouldn't look as good as standalone band. But I prefer the diamond band to be larger than the accent bands worn on either side. You may just want a smaller band, and that is okay. Just go with 9 stones if you go with stones smaller than 10 points. The one with nine 8 pointers would be fine if you don't want the 10-11 pointers. Those would be my top choices.

Gemmyblond- Thank you for sharing your experience with the band. I love that you have had it for so long and that it has held up really well. Especially since you say it is indestructible and I am hard on my rings. Do you have any pics by chance? Also do you end up with Plat or WG or something else? Just curious how the metal has held up too. I was debating on the upgraded stones but happy to hear that you thought it was great as normal.

MissGotRocks- What a beautiful ring! Huge and it looks amazing!... I am curious why you chose to do two toned? Do you wear mostly yellow gold? OR was it a cost thing to do Plat prongs and gold band and nothing has to get dipped? Did you decide to "upgrade" the stones just to be on the safe side in terms of clarity or just a mind clean thing?

Gypsy- that is a great find on Ebay but definitely out of my price range. My quotes for Memoire are much lower in the 8points and 10points 7-9 stones. Actually for the 7 stone and 9 stone they are the same price and on par with what BGD quoted me for an 8 point Dream half band.

Thanks Diamondseeker! I was hoping you would stop by. You were the only one that I could find that chose the 18K white gold. If you had to do it again would you do the WG again or would you choose PLAT the second time around? I ask because I thought you were a platinum kind of gal? Mr. Pearlman said that he did not feel it was necessary for me to upgrade to VS unless I was going to be walking around with a loupe. That they use very good quality SI1s and excellent cut. I know you know the tiffany rings well do you feel the sparkle is the same? If by chance you or Mayk see this again can you remind me how wide the 10-11 point band is? Not on the memoire site and when I emailed it was one of the questions he missed.

Hi Hathalove - Here are a couple of pics of my (aging but indestructible) Memoire eternity. 16 stones, just under 3 cts total (my finger's about a 4.5 fyi), over 7 years old, plat. (Sorry the photos are not great - only have the phone camera and it's a dreary ,grey day outside. Took the photo near a window, but still...best I could do and wanted to respond now instead of waiting for sun.)


Also, here it is stacked, between a baguette band and a smaller princess cut channel set band (both plat):

My guess is 2.5mm width... it's wider than my 2mm Tiffany plain band I wear... but not by a lot.. All my rings are platinum, this is my only 18kt.. but I bought it 2nd hand so I didn't really pick..
