Hi, I'm fairly new to PS and wanted to thank everyone for their contributions. There's definitely a wealth of knowledge here (that I've been doing my best to try to soak up) and I definitely appreciate everyone who puts time into making this forum great.

I'm a few months away from actually buying, but I went ahead and started the search about a month ago. I found these two stones. They both seem abnormally cheap for what they are. So I hoping to either A: figure out why they're cheap and learn something new and important about diamonds in the process or B: find out that one's a really good deal and scoop it up in the next few months.

Here's the first:
http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1193832.asp?b=16&a=12&c=77&cid=131

It scored a 1.1 on the HCA and appears to have really good angles and percentages.

And here's the second:
http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/Whiteflash-ACA-cut-diamond-1848231.htm#

It's an ACA, so it has to be great, right? Well, it's a good amount cheaper than most other superideal .6's. Registers a 1.5 on the HCA.

. Shape: Whiteflash ACA

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out!

The .51 does not sound abnormally cheap to me.

The .6 WF one... you should ask WF about the price.

Hi sunkend,

I did a little calculation on both diamonds through
https://www.pricescope.com/cutadviser.asp The first stone costs $ 1280 and scored a 1.3 on the HCA while the second stone costs $1663 and scored a 1.5 on the HCA. They both are good choice IMHO. Personally, I would go for the vendor that has better upgrade policy, just in case you decides to get a bigger diamond for any reason...

I hope this helps, good luck.

Ditto.

Either could be great, depends also if you want the branded ACA or the JA diamond.
