Choosing a ring style for my chonk finger

Don’t worry about your fingers. Some of us have more slender ones, or longer ones... but some of us have what you are saying is chunky and I, for example, don’t have chunky fingers but I have short fingers and I also have bone spurs and enlarged knuckles so we are all not blessed with model hands but it’s okay. The upside is your are going to have a fabulous ring on your finger very soon and that’s all anyone will notice!
My suggestion is you get the best quality ring (diamonds) you can afford. The composition of the style is up to you. Also, I think it’s very important that the the stones match... in color, clarity (a slight variance could be okay... you need to see what the inclusions are like), and in cut quality. A multi stone ring with different qualities of stones will stand out (and not in a good way). And you need to see it in May angles and many lighting situations in real life, how it appears to your eye. Do not let the special lighting of the jewelry store fool you... they can make any diamond lool fabulous. A jeweler should allow you to take it outdoors, take it into their offices where they have yucky lighting, etc., etc. Also, with regard to outside, not just in the shining sun but also in shadows and under gray skies. If you have to go back at different times of the day and on a few different days to get a wide array of lighting situations then you should do that. If you are not going to go completely custom, I think it’s better if you find a semi-mount you like and then select the center stone to go in it. But make sure the quality and color of the side stones already on that semi mount are a good match for the center diamond you select. Of the choices you have, the last one, the band, is the only one I’d matched quality. Also, you mentioned doing something like that in rose gold... I would STRONGLY suggest you give it a lot of consideration. I’m worried that rose gold is a trend and not as timeless. If you love it then go for it. But thing about it. Also, I think that full banded look with the well matched high quality stones is a classic in platinum. Best of luck in your happy future together!

Thank you for your advice!! I am considering going custom but then I would probably be buying from the states, so I wouldn't be able to look at the stones as you suggest.... :\
I will think about your recommendation on rose gold. I like it because it is a little warmer and softer on my skin tone and because I have a very old rose gold link bracelet from my great grandfather which I wear a lot. However I am wary of the very coppery-ness of the rose gold in some places so yellow gold would be my next option! I do agree that with the 7-stone I would probably stick with platinum for the ering band. I just don't like the look of a plain platinum wedding band, as I want the option to leave the ering off occasionally

I love the 5 stone and 7 stone on your finger. Also love the idea of a "graduated" ring. I think having a longer center stone helps "lengthen" your fingers, and sooo elegant looking. You are lucky you can successfully wear a larger-looking ring, they look awful on my hands. I'm very fond of square and emerald cuts myself, but on your hand they all look good.
A wedding band can rub against and weaken your e-ring prong setting, so with a 5 or 7 stone setting you should think carefully about how to minimize friction between the 2 rings. But there is no reason your e-ring and wedding ring can't be one and the same if you want.
You'll be seeing it everyday so ... Go with whatever makes your heart sing.

Oh thank you!! I am now trying to decide between a 5 stone emerald cut or round brilliant....I love the squareness of emerald cut but rounds would be easier to specify for my partner and probably sparklier.
I like your suggestion about just having the one ring...maybe I'll get a plain band for my right hand so I have an option if I don't want to wear my ering

The 5 stone and def go with Whiteflash, Brian Gavin or HPD. You will not regret it.
As for the wedding band, you could pair it with an engraved band or a small thin eternity of diamonds and colored stones.

I just looked up engraved bands - I never knew they existed! So cool!!

Probably just a plain gold or rose gold band (I'm leaning towards rose gold). I really like ones which are square edged but haven't seen many in stores here

Other option would be to just have the one ring on my left hand (like a band and e-ring in one)

Maybe you’d find my set of interest! It’s a custom 7 stone graduated emerald in Pt by Brian Gavin (2.7 cts tot) and a simple gold band. Both have a squared off look for cohesiveness. I LOVE my ring.

Not sure why that uploaded twice O.O

Forgot to mention, my finger is a size 7.5 :)

ooooooooh yea your ring is lovely!!!! Looks great on your finger and I love the plain gold band with it too :appl:

How big is the centre diamond? :)

0.94 it’s not too spready and not too deep.
Compared to a bunch of emerald cut stones online it faces up like a 1-1.1 ct I think.

You're playing Azul! yay! And your set is gorgeous!

I have a tapered 7 stone ring. The ring is a size 8 on a size 7.5 finger. The finger coverage is awesome and I get a LOT of compliments on it. I've included a photo of the side of the ring so you can see how far it goes around my finger. The diamonds are 1 x .51, 2 x .4, 2 x .26, 2 x .16 - 2.15 ctw.

@cagerep, I like both the first and third stones in your first post. I think having the stones stop before they reach the sides of the finger is slimming to the finger though, but I don't think you have "chonk" fingers anyway lol. Please show us whatever you get!
