Choosing a Diamond (and ring) - Help Please!

The GCAL report is very complex and detailed.
There is way too much info for the average koala or kangaroo, but the only stones that usually undergo this full reporting are top cuts and that is true for this stone.

Garry H (Cut Nut), do you think there would be any perceivable difference in the visible effects of dispersion for the differing crown heights?

Absoultely if you want to split hairs and measure it with an electron scanning microscope DJW!
And it might well be opposite of what you expect.

But for a human being???
No way.

What you are talking about is a smaller table.
But you need to factor in the larger spread which means there is probably the same or maybe even slightly more crown facet area on the 2.07ct
58% 8.23mm
vs
56% 8.18mm
You are probably able to do the math.

For my money since the shallower pavilion 2.07ct will show less dirt (which affects the crown facets way more than the table region) - it will show more fire 99% of the time unless it is cleaned every wear.

Thank you folks.
I've placed the order <nervously>.

Very excited for you! I hope you'll come back to share your thoughts once you receive it.

Awesome info... thank you very much, Garry!

One thing I will point out about the 2.07 is the shorter 14% crown height may tune it for slightly less fire/colored light flashes.

If fire is what you're after, then take a closer look at either of the 2.03 diamonds that I posted, since both have a taller 15% crown height.

This is sometimes true, but I have seen some beautiful fiery diamonds with a 14% crown height. It might have to do with the other combination of specs, but I think it's worth a look.

Edited to add that I just saw Gary's response, so never mind. He knows way more about diamonds than I ever will. Lol

And I should read entire threads before responding.
