A jeweler evaluated my stone and said it has 3 chips noted on certificate and another new chip. I didn't know about the 3 chips being noted on certificate because under the Key to Symbols, they weren't noted. Certificate was dated June 1999 when I bought stone.I wasn't aware chips would be noted on certificate, and it didn't occur to me buying stone w/GIA certificate would have chips on stone! I assume stone has no chips with GIA certificate. No wonder I only paid $4460 for stone:
This turned out not a good deal at all if stone was chipped in 3 corners! the chips were small and could be hidden under v-shaped prongs.I guess many people missed it because I took stone to Robbin Bros for evaluation, and person didnt' say anything about the chips. I almost traded stone in to this one jeweler, and she only noted the recent chip which must have been apparent. the other 3 chips must not be that noticeable, or people just missed them on the certificate....G/VS1 1.13 carat,
depth 69.2%
table 69%
girdle very thin to medium
cutlet none
polish very good
symmetry good
flourescence none

Points on a Princess-cut are sensitive
and prone to chipping.

In our shop, these points are given a very small
facet to "anchor" the point and provide
a buffer against chippping or breakage.

the marking for the chips were in black, not green on the certificate.

what do you mean by "these points are given a very small
facet to "anchor" the point "

How do you give facet to the points?

Each point on the princess
is given a small facet on the
wheel. This eliminates the sharp point
and aids against the point being
chipped.
